Nicole Brown Simpson’s former boyfriend is opening up about chilling moments he says he experienced with O.J. Simpson just two years before Nicole and Ron Goldman were brutally murdered.

Joseph Perrulli, who says he fell in love with Nicole shortly after she separated from the former NFL star, recalled the frightening encounters in his new memoir, The Forgotten Briefcase. His memories paint a disturbing picture of a romance shadowed by fear, suspicion and the looming presence of Nicole’s famous ex-husband.

According to Perrulli, one unsettling moment happened outside Nicole’s home when he thought he smelled her perfume lingering in the air, “as if she had been standing there.” At the time, he didn’t think much of it.

But several weeks later, Nicole called him with a chilling explanation.

A neighbor, she told him, had allegedly seen O.J. Simpson skulking in the bushes outside her home that same night.

Perrulli later realized the scent he had picked up may not have belonged to Nicole after all. He said Nicole sometimes wore Paco Rabanne men’s cologne — the same scent O.J. also wore.

Nicole, never one to back down, confronted Simpson over the alleged visit, Perrulli claimed.

According to him, O.J. insisted he had simply been driving by and wanted to make sure everything was okay. He also allegedly told Nicole he did not have a problem with Perrulli and considered him “a gentleman.”

But Perrulli said the strange encounters did not stop there.

In another tense moment, he recalled going for a run with Nicole and a friend when they suddenly spotted O.J. with Sydney and Justin, the two children he shared with Nicole, at a local market.

Their friend immediately froze, Perrulli wrote.

“Joseph, whatever you do, keep running,” the friend allegedly warned him.

As Perrulli passed by, he said he felt O.J.’s eyes lock onto him.

“Before I passed, it almost felt like he marked me,” Perrulli recalled. “His glare was penetrating.”

Afterward, Perrulli said Nicole was deeply shaken. She allegedly believed O.J. had followed her with the children to make her look bad.

The mounting tension eventually became too much. After only a few months together, Perrulli ended his relationship with Nicole.

Then, on June 13, 1994, he received the phone call that would haunt him forever.

A friend told him that Nicole, 35, had been found murdered. Perrulli said his mind immediately went to one horrifying thought.

“Oh he did it, he killed her,” he recalled thinking.

He was then told that a man’s body had also been found at the scene. That man was 25-year-old Ron Goldman, a waiter and aspiring actor who had been killed alongside Nicole.

For Perrulli, the news brought a terrifying realization.

Had he stayed with Nicole, he believes Ron Goldman’s fate could have been his own.

“Ron Goldman could have been me,” Perrulli said.

He added that Goldman was “an innocent young man” whose story was ultimately overshadowed by the media circus surrounding O.J. Simpson’s trial.
