Prince Harry raised eyebrows during a very unfiltered podcast appearance in the U.K., where he joked about his grooming habits and left some royal watchers cringing.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, appeared on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast, which dropped July 13. The episode was recorded during Harry’s recent visit to England for the one-year countdown kickoff to the 2027 Birmingham Invictus Games.
What started as a conversation about hair and beard care quickly took a much more personal turn.
Former rugby player Joe Marler asked Harry about his “grooming routine,” prompting the prince to clarify exactly what kind of grooming they were discussing.
“What were we talking, upstairs and downstairs and middle stairs?” Harry asked.
He then joked that his routine was “a s—, shower, shave, obviously,” referring to his personal care habits.
Marler immediately picked up on the phrase and asked, “All at the same time?”
He then told Harry, “You can’t s— in the shower,” before the prince made it clear that he meant it as a sequence, not something happening all at once.
Harry then steered the conversation back toward his more traditional grooming routine.
“I trim my beard every sort of five, six days just to keep it a little bit tidy,” he said.
He also poked fun at his thinning hair, admitting there is “nothing really happening on top.”
“I get a haircut; otherwise, I try not to look at what’s happening,” Harry joked.
Marler then tried to push the conversation into more intimate grooming territory, but Harry was quick to dodge that line of questioning.
“I don’t think we need to go there,” he quipped.
Still, Marler kept the mood going by offering a graphic description of his own private grooming habits, telling Harry, “If I’m to share, so it’s a comfortable space. I look like the last turkey in the shop.”
Harry then asked whether Marler meant the “front” and the “back.”
“No, the back’s a disgrace,” Marler replied. “It’s like the eye of that thing from The Lord of the Rings. The Eye of Sauron.”
The comment sent Harry into laughter.
“Yeah, that’s what it’s like. It’s awful. Just don’t go. No one goes there anyway,” Marler added.
The raunchy exchange did not sit well with everyone.
Several viewers criticized Harry in the podcast’s comment section, accusing him of being too vulgar for someone still closely tied to the royal family.
“I can’t believe he has stooped this low. Oh wait… yes, I can believe it,” one person wrote.
“Can’t believe how vulgar this show is. Harry is an embarrassment,” another viewer commented.
A third critic added, “Sorry, this is not how a prince of the realm should behave,” pointing out that Harry remains the son of King Charles III despite stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Another viewer wrote, “How embarrassing, I’m cringing.”
But not everyone was offended. Some fans praised Harry for being relaxed and candid in a way they rarely saw during his time as a working royal.
“This was so fun to watch,” one supporter wrote.
The eyebrow-raising chat is the latest example of Harry’s looser public style since leaving royal life behind with Meghan Markle in 2020. While critics continue to accuse him of oversharing, his supporters say the prince seems more comfortable speaking freely than he ever did behind palace walls.

I can’t imagine some vulgar guy like Marler daring to speak to Prince William like that. That is not how you speak to people who deserve respect.
