Hunter Biden is floating an idea few Americans likely saw coming — a possible run for president.

The 56-year-old son of former President Joe Biden suggested he could enter the 2028 presidential race during an interview with billionaire businessman and radio host John Catsimatidis on WABC’s “Cats Roundtable.”

“If I get your endorsement, I may have to,” Biden told Catsimatidis when the possibility of a presidential run came up.

Hunter stopped well short of officially announcing a campaign, but his comments immediately raised eyebrows given his years of highly publicized personal and legal troubles.

During the interview, Biden said one of the issues closest to him is addiction, pointing to the millions of Americans struggling with substance abuse.

“The things I care most about is the 50 million Americans that are still suffering with their addictions,” he said.

Hunter has been open about his own long battle with drug and alcohol addiction, at times referring to himself as a former crack addict.

He also argued that respect for the Constitution and the rule of law should be a central qualification for anyone seeking the White House.

“I want the next president to commit to one thing: to adhering to the rule of law,” Biden said.

A presidential campaign would mark an extraordinary new chapter for Hunter, whose personal life became a major political issue during his father’s presidency.

He was convicted in 2024 on federal gun charges and later pleaded guilty to federal tax charges. Before leaving office, Joe Biden pardoned his son in December 2024.

Hunter also had a brief stint in the Navy Reserve before being discharged after testing positive for cocaine.

Then there was the infamous laptop controversy.

Material obtained from a laptop reportedly abandoned at a Delaware repair shop became the focus of intense political scrutiny during the 2020 presidential campaign. The device included personal photos, messages and business records that fueled years of questions about Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings.

Hunter has remained firmly in the public eye since his father’s departure from the White House.

He recently made headlines again during an appearance on “The Luke Beasley Show,” where he jokingly described himself as “48.6 percent gay” during a playful exchange about his sexuality. The percentage changed several times during the lengthy conversation, making clear the discussion was tongue-in-cheek.

Despite teasing his own possible presidential ambitions, Hunter made clear he believes Democrats already have plenty of potential contenders.

He singled out California Gov. Gavin Newsom, saying, “I love Gavin Newsom, personally,” while describing the Democratic Party as having an “incredible bench.”

For now, Hunter Biden is not officially a presidential candidate.

But after years of being one of the most controversial presidential relatives in modern American politics, even joking about a run for the Oval Office is enough to get people talking.
