Former President Bill Clinton is once again sparking concern over his health after appearing noticeably frail and shaky during a rare public appearance in New York City.
The 79-year-old ex-president stepped out for the groundbreaking ceremony of a new $18 million men’s drug rehabilitation center in Brooklyn — but instead of headlines about the facility itself, many people were left talking about Clinton’s weakened appearance and soft, strained voice.
Video and photos from the event showed the former commander-in-chief moving carefully as he addressed the crowd in a hushed, gravelly tone that at times appeared difficult to hear. Some attendees reportedly grew concerned as Clinton seemed unsteady while delivering emotional remarks about addiction, redemption, and “second chances.”
“I believe in the God of second chances, and I’ve needed a lot of them,” Clinton told the audience while praising the new 70-bed expansion of the Anchor House Men’s Addiction Rehabilitation Facility.
The longtime Democrat also opened up about his brother Roger Clinton’s decades-long battle with substance abuse, revealing the deeply personal reason the cause matters so much to him.
“I have a brother I’m very proud of who was in rehab four times, was in prison 14 months, and was very near death after battling it for 50 years,” Clinton said. “And just when it seemed all our time had gone out, he decided he wanted to live.”
But despite the heartfelt message, many observers couldn’t help but focus on the former president’s increasingly fragile appearance.
The latest outing comes after growing concern surrounding Clinton’s health over the past several years. During a high-profile gala in New York late last year, attendees reportedly noticed his hands trembling while he turned pages during a speech.
“It was sad to watch,” one attendee reportedly said at the time. “The room went completely silent because everyone was struggling to hear him.”
Clinton has battled a long history of serious health issues since leaving the White House in 2001.
In 2004, he underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery after doctors discovered severe blockages in his arteries that reportedly left him dangerously close to suffering a massive heart attack. Years later, he returned to the hospital for another heart procedure after experiencing chest pains and receiving two stents.
Health fears intensified again last summer after Clinton was photographed alongside wife Hillary Clinton while carrying what appeared to be a portable defibrillator during a trip to the Hamptons.
Then, on Christmas Eve, the former president was hospitalized in Washington, D.C., after developing a fever related to the flu. That scare came only a few years after he suffered a serious urological infection that spread to his bloodstream and required hospitalization.
Now, with Clinton approaching his 80th birthday in August, the former president’s latest appearance is once again fueling questions about his declining health — and leaving many longtime supporters worried about the once-energetic political icon.

Prayers for Bill Clinton 🙏🙏🙏
I think this is an exaggeration. He moved well, and seemed very animated. He is old, and not every old man can be as energetic as Trump.
