Human Bones Found Near Nancy Guthrie’s Arizona Home

A chilling discovery near the Arizona home of missing mom Nancy Guthrie sent shockwaves through the quiet Tucson neighborhood where the 84-year-old vanished more than three months ago — but investigators now say the human remains are not connected to her haunting disappearance.

Authorities confirmed the bones found near Nancy’s property were actually “prehistoric,” instantly ruling them out in the ongoing mystery surrounding the mother of Today show star Savannah Guthrie.

The grim find triggered a massive police response after human bones were discovered near the intersection of Craycroft and River in Tucson. For a brief moment, fears exploded that the remains could belong to Nancy, who vanished without a trace on February 1.

But law enforcement sources later revealed the remains were ancient and are now being turned over to researchers for further study.

“The bone found near Craycroft and River was determined to be human,” the Tucson Police Department said in a statement. “This will be a prehistoric anthropological investigation.”

Officials added that the University of Arizona’s Anthropology Department and the Pima County Medical Examiner assisted in the investigation, stressing that it is “not a criminal investigation.”

Still, the bizarre discovery has only added another eerie layer to the already terrifying case that has left Tucson residents shaken for months.

Nancy was last seen alive on January 31 after having dinner with her daughter Annie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni. According to reports, Cioni dropped her off at her home shortly before 10 p.m.

The next day, alarm bells rang when Nancy failed to show up at a friend’s house for their weekly livestream church service tradition — something the two had reportedly done every week since the COVID pandemic.

When loved ones went to check on her, they found something deeply unsettling.

Nancy’s wallet, phone, medications, car keys, and other personal belongings were all still inside the home. Investigators also reportedly found signs of forced entry, fueling fears she may have been abducted.

Days later, police released disturbing footage from Nancy’s Ring doorbell camera showing a mysterious man wearing a ski mask lurking outside her house.

The masked figure has still not been identified.

The frightening disappearance has rattled neighbors across Tucson, where many say crimes like this simply do not happen.

NewsNation correspondent Brian Entin previously said residents remain on edge because there have been so few answers in the case.

“It’s got people thinking, ‘What would we do if someone broke in tonight?’” Kevin Hand of Sportsman Steel Safes told Daily Mail, revealing there has been a “huge spike” in panic room requests since Nancy vanished.

Some residents now reportedly believe security cameras alone are no longer enough protection.

Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding Nancy’s disappearance continues to deepen with no arrests, no suspects publicly identified, and no sign of where she may be.
