Singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne gave fans a terrifying scare after suddenly collapsing on stage during a concert in Nashville.

The 53-year-old Grammy winner was performing at the historic Ryman Auditorium on Sept. 5 as part of his “Trouble” 20th Anniversary Tour when the frightening incident unfolded.

Video posted on social media shows LaMontagne strumming his guitar and singing his 2004 song “Jolene” when he suddenly appeared to struggle.

The singer could be heard making strained sounds before reaching for the microphone stand. Seconds later, he collapsed backward onto the stage as crew members rushed over to help him.

Concertgoer Andrea Curtis, who shared video of the incident on Instagram, said the show came to an abrupt stop during the second-to-last song of the night.

LaMontagne’s representatives did not immediately provide a public health update, but his team reportedly addressed the incident in an Instagram Story that was later deleted.

According to reports from People and Consequence, LaMontagne was suffering from heat-related dehydration.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to tonight’s show at the Ryman,” his team reportedly wrote.

They said LaMontagne was being treated by local emergency medical personnel and was “doing well,” while thanking fans for their understanding.

His team also said the singer was already looking ahead to his next scheduled concert in Louisville the following night.

LaMontagne is currently touring to mark the 20th anniversary of his debut album, “Trouble,” which was released in 2004 and helped launch his career.

The tour began Aug. 23 in Salt Lake City and includes stops in cities such as Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston and Portland before wrapping up in New York City.

LaMontagne performed back-to-back shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5.

The singer has enjoyed a successful career spanning more than two decades. In 2011, he won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album for “God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise.”

Fans were left stunned by the dramatic scene in Nashville, but the early update from his team offered some relief after the singer’s frightening fall.
