A rising beauty queen with a glamorous public life is now at the center of a chilling mystery that’s sending shockwaves through Mexico and beyond.
Carolina Flores Gomez, a 27-year-old former Miss Teen Universe titleholder, was found dead inside her apartment in Mexico City on April 15 with a gunshot wound to the head. What initially appeared to be a tragic death has quickly spiraled into a full-blown homicide investigation — with suspicion falling disturbingly close to home.
According to reports from Reporte Indigo and Us Weekly, authorities believe Gomez may have been killed a full day before her body was discovered. That timeline has raised serious questions about why her husband, Alejandro Gomez, allegedly waited so long before contacting emergency services.
Even more unsettling, police say both Alejandro and his mother, Erika Maria, were inside the home when the fatal incident is believed to have occurred.
Now, investigators are zeroing in on Maria as the prime suspect in what officials are treating as a possible murder.
Adding to the eerie nature of the case, building staff reportedly told investigators they heard no gunshots and noticed nothing unusual leading up to the discovery of Gomez’s body. Forensic teams have since combed through the apartment searching for clues that could explain what really happened behind closed doors.
The Mexico City prosecutor’s office has confirmed that an official investigation is underway.
Public officials are already speaking out. Marina del Pilar Ávila, governor of Baja California — where Gomez once held her title — issued a statement expressing outrage and grief.
“No crime against a woman should go unpunished,” Ávila said. “Our thoughts are with her family during this devastating time.”
Gomez wasn’t just another pageant contestant — she was a well-known model and social media influencer who had built a growing following. She won her Miss Teen Universe crown representing Baja California in 2017 and went on to earn several local titles in her hometown of Ensenada.
Her sudden and violent death adds to a disturbing trend. In recent months, multiple beauty queens have died under tragic circumstances, including Guatemala’s Raquel Escalante, who passed away after battling cervical cancer in late 2025, and Jamaica’s Tyra Spaulding, whose death was ruled a suspected suicide last September.
Now, Gomez’s case is raising even more urgent questions — not just about what happened in that apartment, but about how danger can sometimes lurk where it’s least expected.
As investigators work to piece together the final hours of her life, one question remains: what really happened inside that home?

Please send us more Mexicans. They commit the murders that Americans don’t have time to do.
