A routine trip for a glass of water turned into a full-blown nightmare for Australian TV and radio star Carrie Bickmore — and the aftermath is as gruesome as it gets.
The 45-year-old media personality shocked fans after revealing she suffered a brutal head injury in the middle of the night, describing the scene as something straight out of a crime drama. What started as a simple misstep in the dark quickly escalated into chaos when she walked straight into the corner of a wall with full force.
“I felt it spurting out,” Bickmore said on her radio show, recalling the terrifying moment. “I was catching it with my hand, and it dripped all down my eye.” The impact was so intense it knocked over a nearby lamp as she fell, leaving her bleeding heavily and scrambling to react.
Things only got more disturbing from there.
Bickmore later posted graphic photos showing a deep gash on the side of her head, wrapped in bandages, telling followers it “looked like a crime scene.” Paramedics rushed in to treat her on the spot, initially sealing the wound with medical glue and sending her on her way.
But the horror story didn’t end there.
Despite the injury, Bickmore went ahead with a planned family getaway to Sri Lanka — a decision that quickly backfired. The wound refused to heal and was made even worse in a freak travel mishap when another passenger accidentally dropped a carry-on suitcase directly onto her already injured head.
“Healing terribly. And hurting,” she admitted, adding that the pain intensified after the second blow.
Unable to properly wash her hair, swim, or care for the wound during the trip, things spiraled further. By the time she returned home, doctors delivered some alarming news — the injury was far more severe than originally believed.
According to Bickmore, the cut was so deep the initial treatment “did absolutely nothing.” Now, she’s facing plastic surgery to fix the damage, with specialists expected to reopen the wound, remove the glue, and repair affected nerves along with multiple layers of skin.
Still, in true pro fashion, Bickmore managed to keep her sense of humor through the ordeal, joking about her appearance and brushing it off with a laugh.
Fans, however, were stunned.
Social media quickly flooded with messages of support, with followers calling the ordeal “brutal” and praising her for pushing through such a shocking and painful experience.
What was supposed to be a quiet night at home turned into a freak accident straight out of a horror movie — and now, a long road to recovery lies ahead.
