Amtrak Train Carrying Over 100 People Collides with 18-Wheeler in Texas

A terrifying crash unfolded Tuesday morning in Texas when an Amtrak passenger train slammed into an 18-wheeler stuck on the tracks—sending passengers scrambling and disrupting a major cross-country route.

The train, carrying 93 passengers and 11 crew members, collided with the truck around 11:10 a.m. in Missouri City, near Highway 90 and Cravens Road. Emergency crews rushed to the scene as smoke and a small fire broke out following the impact.

According to officials, the truck driver had stopped at a sign and was trying to turn onto the highway—but his trailer became stuck on the tracks just as the train approached. Despite warning signals and crossing arms working properly, the driver couldn’t clear the tracks in time.

The result: a violent collision that shattered the train’s windshield, caused a diesel leak, and left visible damage to the front of the locomotive.

Miraculously, no serious injuries were reported. Two people were treated at the scene for minor issues, and everyone onboard was safely evacuated.

Passengers were later bused to continue their journey from Los Angeles to New Orleans after the crash brought rail service to a halt.

The truck driver was cited for stopping on the tracks and given a warning for not properly securing his load.

The crash also knocked out power to hundreds of nearby residents, leaving dozens still without electricity hours later as crews worked to repair the damage.

Authorities shut down parts of Highway 90-A as the investigation continues into how the dangerous situation unfolded.
