McDonald’s Sausage McMuffin Leaves Texas Woman Seriously Injured

A Texas woman says a McDonald’s breakfast sandwich did a lot more than ruin her morning.

Yvette Hinds is suing McDonald’s after claiming a Sausage McMuffin with Egg she bought in Manhattan left her violently sick and seriously injured, according to a lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court.

The complaint, filed May 26, alleges the sandwich was “wholly unfit for human consumption” and contained possible “contaminants, poisons, toxins, parasites, bacteria, germs and/or organisms.”

Hinds says she bought the breakfast sandwich on May 25, 2023, at a McDonald’s location near 51st Street and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan.

But according to the lawsuit, the meal was not “reasonably safe” or “wholesome” food. Instead, Hinds claims it was “contaminated, tainted, poisonous, injurious and wholly unfit for human consumption.”

The lawsuit says Hinds became “violently ill and nauseated” after eating the McMuffin and suffered “severe pains and distress throughout her body.”

Her legal filing goes even further, claiming her “physical, nervous and mental systems” were “seriously and permanently injured” by the allegedly contaminated food.

Hinds also claims she had to undergo “several operations, procedures and treatments” because of the sandwich and has been left unable to handle her normal duties at home.

The lawsuit says she has already racked up major medical expenses and expects to continue needing treatment in the future.

Her attorney, Mark Shirian, declined to comment further on the case or provide additional details about Hinds’ alleged injuries.

McDonald’s and the franchisee that operates the Midtown location did not respond to requests for comment, according to The Independent.

The lawsuit accuses McDonald’s and the franchisee of negligence in the way the food was prepared, served, handled, stored, inspected and distributed.

Hinds argues that by selling her the sandwich, McDonald’s represented that it was safe to eat. She says she had no way of knowing the food was allegedly dangerous.

The case is the latest legal headache for the fast-food giant.

Last year, a Staten Island man sued McDonald’s after claiming he bit into a hamburger and found a clump of hair and a shard of metal in his mouth.

McDonald’s was also sued after a music producer with a severe milk allergy claimed a slice of cheese on his Big Mac sent him into anaphylactic shock and nearly caused respiratory failure.

In another case, a Brooklyn pastor sued after claiming a “rotten” Chicken McCrispy sandwich left him in serious stomach distress for weeks.

Hinds is now seeking money damages from McDonald’s Corporation and the franchisee, 18884 Food Corporation. The amount would be determined at trial. She is also seeking attorneys’ fees and court costs.

  1. Again, people look at the deep-pockets & think they should score. The woman that was burned because “Her coffee was too hot” is a classic example of “I was stoopid & clumsy, so it’s somebody ELSE’S fault”.
Grow up people. Unless there was a MASS happening of folks getting ill, it WASN’T a food-prep problem. Too many “Karens” & “Kens” in the world that think everything that goes wrong is somebody else’s fault !
It’s sad that things like this INCREASE COSTS FOR EVERYBODY ELSE, by costing companies more in liability insurance rates !
