Whoopi Goldberg’s latest comments about needing her paycheck are reportedly not sitting well with some people behind the scenes at The View.

The 70-year-old Hollywood star recently said she originally joined the daytime talk show because she “needed a job” and admitted she still appreciates — and needs — the money that comes with it.

But according to RadarOnline.com, those remarks reportedly raised eyebrows among staffers who have spent years watching budgets shrink and coworkers lose their jobs.

“People were rolling their eyes,” one television insider told the outlet.

The source claimed nobody has a problem with Goldberg continuing to work, but said her comments sounded wildly different coming from someone reportedly earning between $5 million and $7 million a year.

“When you’re making millions every year, talking like you’re living paycheck to paycheck comes across as incredibly out of touch,” the insider said.

Goldberg discussed her finances during an appearance on Keke Palmer’s Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast, saying that even becoming an EGOT winner does not necessarily mean someone can simply stop worrying about money.

She also suggested she still has expenses to cover, including her mortgage.

But insiders reportedly said the comments landed poorly at a time when employees at The View and elsewhere at Disney have dealt with cost-cutting measures.

Production budgets have reportedly been squeezed, departments have been stretched thinner and some employees have watched colleagues lose their jobs.

“People have watched colleagues lose jobs, budgets get slashed and departments stretched thin,” a source told RadarOnline.com.

Meanwhile, Goldberg reportedly remains the highest-paid member of The View’s current panel.

“It wasn’t exactly a relatable moment,” the insider added.

The frustration reportedly extended to some of Goldberg’s co-hosts as well.

According to one source, many people working on the show are dealing with the kinds of everyday financial worries millions of Americans understand — mortgages, tuition payments and rising household expenses.

The insider argued that Goldberg’s financial concerns are simply on a very different scale.

“There’s a huge gap between protecting a multimillion-dollar lifestyle and wondering if you can pay next month’s bills,” the source said.

Nobody behind the scenes is reportedly criticizing Goldberg for becoming wealthy or successful during her decades-long career.

Instead, insiders said it was the timing and tone of the comments that rubbed people the wrong way.

“Morale has been tested by years of cutbacks,” one source said. “When the highest-paid person in the building says she’s just hanging on for the paycheck, it doesn’t exactly inspire sympathy.”

Goldberg has been one of The View’s biggest personalities since joining the ABC program in 2007, and her outspoken comments frequently become headlines of their own.

This time, however, the reaction may be coming from inside the building.
