President Donald Trump’s unusually close relationship with longtime aide Natalie Harp is reportedly creating tension behind the scenes — with one biographer claiming the 35-year-old staffer’s devotion to Trump has even affected his marriage to first lady Melania Trump.
Biographer Michael Wolff alleges Harp has become such a constant presence in Trump’s orbit that Melania has deliberately avoided appearing alongside her husband when the aide is around.
The explosive claims come as Melania has maintained a noticeably low public profile during Trump’s second term.
According to Wolff, Melania’s appearances with Trump have been carefully planned — and Harp’s presence has allegedly been a sticking point.
Writing in his Substack newsletter, Howl, Wolff claimed Melania “would not show up if Harp was around.”
And because Harp was allegedly almost always nearby during the 2024 presidential campaign, Wolff argued that Melania largely stayed away until the final stretch of the race.
The Daily Beast previously reported that Melania was seen publicly just 47 times in 2025 after Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration, and on only 38 days during the first seven months of 2026.
But Wolff’s most eyebrow-raising allegations involve just how far Harp supposedly went to remain close to Trump.
When Trump moved his campaign operation from Palm Beach, Florida, to his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club in 2023, Wolff claimed Harp was not initially given a room.
Instead of leaving, she allegedly made a bed for herself in the maids’ quarters.
Wolff further claimed Harp later moved into the women’s locker room because the maids’ quarters were still not close enough to Trump.
“Harp superseded the White House staff and, as well, his wife and family,” Wolff wrote, claiming virtually nobody could get access to Trump without going through her.
Harp’s intense loyalty to the president has been reported before.
In Regime Change, New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan wrote that Harp allegedly left personal letters for Trump in private areas.
One reportedly told him, “You are all that matters to me.”
There has been no allegation that Trump and Harp have had a sexual relationship.
Still, Wolff claims some people around the president believe Harp is deeply emotionally attached to him.
He even alleged that some insiders have described her as “hopelessly in love” with Trump and determined to become what he called his “higher purpose bride.”
One Trump aide reportedly characterized the bond to Wolff as a “Christian devotional relationship.”
The White House, however, has forcefully rejected Wolff’s reporting.
When The Daily Beast sought comment on the claims, White House spokesman Davis Ingle unleashed a blistering attack on the controversial author, calling Wolff a “professional scumbag and serial liar.”
Neither Trump nor Melania has publicly confirmed Wolff’s claims about their marriage, and the allegations remain disputed.
But the attention surrounding Harp’s powerful position and constant proximity to the president is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
