Rising golf star Jessica Bang has died at just 18 years old after suffering a devastating brain hemorrhage while preparing for a major qualifying tournament in Thailand.

The young Australian golfer collapsed on Aug. 1 in Bangkok as she prepared to compete in the KLPGA Tour’s International Qualifying Tournament, according to the WPGA Tour of Australasia and her family.

Bang was rushed to Synphat Ramintra Hospital, where doctors performed emergency brain surgery. She was later placed on life support as her family desperately hoped to bring her back home to Australia.

But in a heartbreaking update, Bang’s cousins announced that she died at 7:20 a.m. local time Thursday.

“We are truly heartbroken by this news,” her cousins wrote in an update on a GoFundMe page created for the teenager.

“However, we would like to continue to remember Jessica and celebrate her achievements, passion, and dedication to golf.”

Her family remembered Bang as a cheerful young woman with a big personality and a bright future ahead of her.

“Her sense of humor, together with her cheerful and vibrant personality, will always be remembered and treasured by our family,” her cousins wrote.

The fundraiser had collected nearly $36,000 Australian dollars as supporters rallied around the family during Bang’s hospitalization.

Her cousins said the money will now be given to Bang’s parents to help cover her medical expenses.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported Jessica and our family through this incredibly difficult time,” they added.

The WPGA Tour of Australasia also paid tribute to the rising star following news of her death.

“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the broader Australian golf community are with Jessica’s family, friends and all those who knew and loved her at this incredibly difficult time,” the organization said in a statement.

Bang’s death comes just as her professional golf career appeared to be taking off.

She reportedly turned professional last year and qualified earlier in 2026 to begin her rookie season with the WPGA/KLPGA.

In February, Bang scored a major breakthrough when she won the Ford Women’s NSW Regional Qualifying tournament at Moss Vale in Australia.

It was only the fifth professional start of her young career.

“I’m so happy, I can’t even put it into words,” Bang said after the victory.

“It still doesn’t feel real yet. I did not expect this at all — big surprise.”

Just months later, the promising golfer’s sudden death has left Australia’s golf community mourning a talented teenager whose career was only beginning.
