Barron Trump is facing fresh scrutiny over his reported friendship with controversial influencer Andrew Tate — and one communications expert warns that staying silent could eventually start looking like support.

President Donald Trump’s 20-year-old son has not publicly addressed his reported relationship with Tate following the influencer’s latest legal troubles.

Andrew Tate, 39, and his brother Tristan, 38, were taken into custody in the United States while authorities continue pursuing criminal cases against them overseas. The brothers deny wrongdoing and are fighting efforts to extradite them.

But as questions swirl about just how close Barron may have been to Tate, one public relations expert says keeping quiet carries risks of its own.

New York communications consultant Sam Gauchier said Barron should think carefully about what happens next.

A formal public statement could draw even more attention to the controversy, Gauchier argued, but continuing to associate with Tate could create an entirely different problem.

“Barron should understand that doing nothing is still a choice people will interpret too,” Gauchier told the Irish Star.

He warned that if Barron continues communicating with Tate, defending him or remaining publicly connected to his circle, “his silence will start to look like loyalty.”

At that point, Gauchier said, simply claiming he never publicly endorsed Tate may no longer be enough to quiet critics.

Exactly how close Barron and Tate actually became remains unclear.

If their relationship amounted to little more than a casual acquaintance, Gauchier suggested Barron would be better off quietly cutting ties rather than fueling an even bigger media circus.

But the situation could become far more serious if Tate was ever given meaningful access to the Trump family or the president himself.

In that case, Gauchier said Barron could eventually face pressure to make clear that he does not support abuse, exploitation or political interference involving Tate’s legal cases.

The growing controversy has already reached Capitol Hill.

Democratic Rep. Yassamin Ansari sent a July 23 letter to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer demanding an investigation into the Tate brothers and whether anyone connected to the federal government improperly attempted to help them.

And Barron was specifically named.

Ansari called for the committee to subpoena the president’s son and question him about what he knew about the brothers, whether he had any involvement in matters surrounding them and whether he discussed their legal problems with President Trump or members of the administration.

She also sought communications from the Justice Department, State Department and White House mentioning Andrew or Tristan Tate.

The congresswoman said investigators should determine whether government officials arranged meetings with the brothers or advocated for them during criminal or extradition proceedings.

No evidence was presented in the letter establishing that Barron committed wrongdoing.

The political pressure comes as the Tate brothers face a mountain of legal problems abroad.

Andrew and Tristan have faced accusations in the United Kingdom and Romania involving alleged human trafficking, sexual offenses and participation in an organized criminal group. They have denied the allegations against them.

The brothers are currently fighting extradition proceedings from the United States.

Their extradition hearing was postponed while British authorities were given additional time to provide supporting evidence to the U.S. State Department.

For Barron, however, the controversy is increasingly becoming about perception.

He has largely remained outside the political spotlight despite being the president’s youngest son. But his reported connection to one of the internet’s most polarizing personalities could make staying out of the headlines far more difficult.

And with a member of Congress now demanding that he answer questions under oath, Barron’s silence may not keep him on the sidelines for much longer.
