A woman hoping for a fun night at a California amusement park instead found herself trapped high above the ground as terrified visitors suddenly began running and screaming below.

TikTok creator Corinn Rene was riding the Ferris wheel at the popular Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk when the attraction unexpectedly stopped — and stayed stopped long enough for her to realize something was seriously wrong.

Rene, who posts under the username @core_inn, captured the frightening ordeal in a video that has since racked up more than 3.5 million views.

She said she had been sitting on the ride for about 20 minutes when she finally looked down and noticed people apparently running through the amusement park.

At first, Rene thought a tsunami might have triggered the panic.

But that theory quickly fell apart when she noticed people were actually running toward the beach.

Things became even more unsettling when Rene spotted three armed police officers apparently searching the area below.

Then she heard someone shout, “He’s got him!”

Rene said the Ferris wheel eventually started moving again, giving her hope that she was finally getting off — only for it to stop once more while she was near the top.

“So are yall gonna let us down, or?” she joked in the caption, despite the alarming scene unfolding underneath her.

Viewers quickly flooded the comments, with some pointing out that being stranded high on the Ferris wheel may actually have been one of the safest places to be while nobody knew what was happening on the ground.

Others began speculating that the chaos could have involved gunfire.

Once Rene was finally allowed off the ride, she said she and her companions immediately ran for their car.

By then, she claimed even more police officers were arriving as visitors screamed and rushed through the area.

“It was honestly heartbreaking,” Rene said in a follow-up video. “No one knows what’s going on.”

Authorities later revealed that police had responded to reports of gunshots near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

According to the Ceres Police Department, Santa Cruz officers were dispatched at approximately 9:02 p.m. on Aug. 3 after shots were reportedly fired in a parking lot across from the amusement park.

Fortunately, police said nobody was injured in the shooting.

Officers secured the area and reportedly recovered multiple pieces of evidence as investigators worked to determine what happened.

Authorities eventually identified two 17-year-olds from Ceres, California, as suspects in connection with the shooting and also identified vehicles allegedly associated with them.

Search warrants were later served at the teenagers’ homes as investigators looked for additional evidence.

The Santa Cruz Police Department is continuing to lead the investigation.

For Rene, however, what began as an ordinary ride overlooking the California coastline became a terrifying front-row seat to chaos — with nowhere to go until the Ferris wheel finally came back down.
