A well-known New York couple who spent years supporting their community were reportedly shot and killed by their own son — just days after they paid $10,000 to get him out of jail.

Steve Sislo and his wife, Donna Walker-Sislo, were found dead inside their home in Madison, New York, on Friday, Aug. 7, according to authorities and multiple local reports.

Their 35-year-old son, Justin Sislo, was also found dead inside the house.

Investigators believe Justin fatally shot both of his parents before turning the gun on himself, according to reports citing the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

All three died from gunshot wounds.

The horrifying deaths came just weeks after Justin had landed behind bars on a strangulation charge.

Court records show Justin was arrested July 1 in connection with an alleged incident that occurred the previous month.

But in a grim twist, his parents reportedly paid $10,000 to bail him out of jail just days before they were killed.

The circumstances surrounding what happened inside the family’s home remain under investigation.

There were also signs that people who once knew Justin had been concerned about him long before the tragedy.

In December 2023, a former classmate posted online saying nobody appeared to have heard from Justin for years. Several others reportedly responded that they had also wondered what had happened to him.

After news of the deaths emerged, some of those former acquaintances expressed shock over the devastating turn of events.

Steve and Donna, meanwhile, were remembered as generous supporters of the local community, particularly its arts and cultural organizations.

Steve was a longtime supporter of the Capitol Arts Complex in nearby Rome, a prominent cultural center that hosts performances and community events.

Art Pierce, the complex’s executive director, described Steve as a major force in the community.

“One of the guys who was a real pillar of the community,” Pierce told the Rome Sentinel.

Steve was especially passionate about supporting military bands and helped bring performances to the venue.

“He was particularly involved in the military bands, sponsoring them,” Pierce said. “He was the guy who was instrumental in bringing them in.”

Now, a community that knew Steve and Donna for their generosity is mourning the couple as investigators continue piecing together the final days before the shocking deaths.
