A death investigation tied to a Massachusetts home owned by the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley has taken a disturbing new turn after officials reportedly determined the person found dead inside the property suffered a single gunshot wound.
According to an incident report obtained by TMZ, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found that the unidentified victim died from one gunshot wound. The manner of death, however, has not yet been determined and remains pending as Boston police homicide detectives continue to investigate.
The body was discovered inside a large two-story, seven-bedroom home owned by Conan Harris, Pressley’s husband. Authorities have not released the victim’s name, and the report lists the suspect as unknown.
Despite the high-profile connection to the property, TMZ reported that investigators found “absolutely nothing” suggesting any link between the death investigation and the homeowners.
Police said officers responded to the home after receiving a walk-in report that someone had been shot and was still inside the property. When officers arrived, they searched the residence and found the victim’s body near a bedroom.
Emergency responders pronounced the person dead at the scene.
The discovery immediately drew attention because the home is owned by Harris, who is married to Pressley, the progressive Massachusetts congresswoman and member of the so-called “Squad.” But a spokesperson for Pressley told People that the property is a rental home and that the congresswoman is not the landlord.
Harris also addressed the situation, saying his family is safe while offering condolences to the victim’s relatives.
“Our family is safe,” Harris said, while extending sympathy to the loved ones of the person who died.
The case remains under active investigation by Boston police homicide detectives. Authorities have not announced any arrests, released information about a possible motive, or identified the person responsible.
For now, investigators appear to be trying to answer the biggest questions surrounding the grim discovery: who the victim was, how they ended up inside the home, and who fired the fatal shot.
The medical examiner’s finding confirms the death involved gunfire, but with the manner of death still pending, officials have not said whether they are treating the case as a homicide, suicide, accident, or something else.
Police have not released additional details about the condition of the home, whether a firearm was recovered, or whether anyone else was inside the property when officers arrived.
