X-Men star Tyler Mane has revealed he is battling a rare form of breast cancer — and he is taking fans along for the fight.
The 59-year-old actor, best known for playing Sabretooth in the 2000 blockbuster X-Men, shared the emotional health update in a video posted to Facebook on Tuesday.
Mane, a former pro wrestler who later became a Hollywood fan favorite, told followers he had already begun chemotherapy.
“I have some bad news. I start chemo today,” Mane said in the video.
The actor explained that male breast cancer is rarely discussed, which can make it even more dangerous.
“One in 750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and I’m one of them,” he said.
“Because it’s rarely talked about, it’s usually found at later stages and has worse outcomes. I want to change that.”
Mane then made it clear he is ready for the battle ahead.
“Come along for my journey to kick this thing in the a–,” he told fans.
At the end of the video, Mane included a brief clip of himself at the hospital as he began treatment.
“F–k cancer!” he declared.
In the caption, Mane opened up even more about the diagnosis and admitted he initially wanted to keep it quiet.
“Yep. I have breast cancer. And yep, it’s super rare. Only 1 per cent of breast cancers are men,” he wrote.
The actor confessed the diagnosis was difficult to process at first.
“I’ll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean it’s kind of embarrassing,” Mane wrote.
But he said he changed his mind after learning that silence around male breast cancer can put men at serious risk.
“But then I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in advanced stages BECAUSE it’s not talked about and not looked for,” he added.
Mane also credited his wife, Renae Geerlings, with pushing him to take action when doctors allegedly dismissed his concerns.
“In fact, my doctors all dismissed it and it was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early,” he wrote.
The actor urged men not to ignore warning signs and encouraged people to spread awareness.
“So let’s start talking about it!” he continued. “1 in 755 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and if caught early, it’s VERY treatable. Time to answer the Wake Up Call!”
Fans immediately flooded Mane’s page with messages of love, prayers and support.
Many pointed to his legendary tough-guy roles, including Sabretooth in X-Men and Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, as proof he is ready for the fight.
“Cancer versus Michael Myers, I don’t like the outcome for the cancer,” one fan wrote.
Another added: “Sending prayers, just remember…. You can’t kill the boogeyman!!! Cancer is messing with the wrong person.”
A third supporter wrote: “You’ve got this! Can’t keep Sabretooth down!”
Others leaned into Mane’s X-Men fame, with one fan writing: “If you can beat Wolverine, you can beat cancer .. you got this buddy.”
Another emotional comment read: “God be with you. Also you will dominate this thing. You played both Sabretooth and Michael Myers. Both have amazing healing factors. Cancer isn’t taking you down.”
Mane first made a name for himself in professional wrestling, performing as Big Sky in WCW during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He later transitioned to acting and became widely recognized for his role as Sabretooth in X-Men, starring alongside Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Now, the actor is using his platform to warn men about a cancer many never think could happen to them.
And judging by the wave of support from fans, Mane will not be fighting alone.
