Pilot Accidentally Films Paraglider’s Fatal Crash and Fall (Video)

A pilot unintentionally captured the horrifying moment a paraglider fell to his death in Brazil.

The tragedy happened Wednesday in São Paulo as another pilot was filming the scenic views from the air, according to Brazilian outlet Globo.

The footage reportedly captured 44-year-old Danilo José de Lima crashing into trees before falling to his death.

Danilo, who was known for his love of flying and adventure sports, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was found about 150 feet from the flight track after rescue crews initially struggled to locate him in the dense forest area.

Shortly before the fatal flight, Danilo had shared a haunting final post.

“Death is certain, life is not. Make it count,” he wrote.

Officials at Ilha do Ar Club, where the accident happened, paid tribute to Danilo after the tragedy.

They said he “left doing what he loved most: flying.”

“And that was exactly how he lived: with freedom, intensity, a smile on his face and a light heart,” the club said.

The group remembered him as someone who brought joy and friendship to the flying community.

“At Ilha do Ar, we shared unique moments of friendship, laughter, adventures and that peace only free flight can provide,” the tribute continued. “He was positive, joyful, a companion and passionate about the sport.”

The fatal accident happened one day before this year’s São Paulo paragliding championship was scheduled to begin.

The first day of competition was canceled out of respect for Danilo. The event later resumed Friday.
