Prince Harry’s popularity appears to be hitting a new low — and royal insiders say the latest numbers are painting a brutal picture for the Duke of Sussex.
Fresh polling data shows Harry no longer has strong support from any major age group, a dramatic fall for the once-beloved prince who used to rank among the most popular members of the royal family. At his peak, Harry reportedly enjoyed approval ratings soaring into the 70 and 80 percent range. Now, those numbers have collapsed — and even younger generations who once strongly backed him appear to be turning away.
Royal commentators say the shift could have major consequences for Harry’s future influence, especially as Prince William moves closer to eventually becoming king.
For years, palace insiders were said to be deeply concerned that Harry could become a long-term headache for the monarchy. Not necessarily because he still had broad public support, but because he remained especially popular with younger audiences who sympathized with his break from royal life and his public battles with the institution.
That safety net may now be gone.
According to newly released YouGov polling, Harry reportedly does not hold majority support in any demographic group — a stunning reversal for the prince who once captivated the public as the fun-loving younger son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana.
The comparison now being made inside royal circles is a harsh one: Edward VIII, the king who famously abdicated the throne in 1936 before spending much of his life in exile as the Duke of Windsor.
Historians have long viewed Edward as a lingering threat to the monarchy after his departure, particularly during the reign of his brother King George VI. Some royal watchers believe Harry has followed a similar path — becoming a royal outsider who continues to criticize the institution from afar while struggling to maintain public sympathy.
The article also draws parallels to Prince Andrew, whose scandals have created years of embarrassment for King Charles. But while Andrew became toxic because of controversy, Harry’s decline appears tied more to exhaustion from years of public family feuds, interviews, documentaries and bombshell accusations against the royal family.
Critics say many royal fans simply grew tired of the drama.
Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world when they stepped down as senior royals in 2020 before relocating to California. Since then, the couple has launched Netflix projects, interviews and Harry’s explosive memoir Spare, which contained deeply personal claims about royal life and his strained relationship with Prince William.
At first, many Americans and younger audiences rallied behind Harry and Meghan, praising them for speaking out. But recent polling suggests that support may be fading as the couple continues to dominate headlines years after leaving royal duties behind.
The numbers are especially concerning because younger people were once viewed as Harry’s strongest remaining base of support. Without that, royal experts say he risks becoming increasingly isolated both from the monarchy and from the public.
And if the latest polls are any indication, the prince who once seemed capable of reshaping the royal family may now be facing a much harsher reality: the public could simply be moving on.
