Something strange is happening in Ohio — and terrified residents say it’s not just another internet hoax.
For weeks, locals across parts of the state have been flooding 911 lines with reports of a massive mystery creature lurking near homes and wooded areas. Now, bizarre 17-inch footprints are reportedly turning up in yards, leaving both residents and police scrambling for answers.
The chilling reports first started pouring in back in March after two powerful snowstorms slammed the region. According to local investigators and Bigfoot researchers, the severe weather may have pushed whatever is out there closer to neighborhoods and residential areas.
One shaken woman told authorities she heard “weird noises” coming from the woods near her home before stumbling across giant footprints pressed deep into the ground outside. Deputies who arrived at the scene reportedly described the prints as “strange” and snapped photos of the massive tracks.
And she wasn’t the only one.
Fox 8 News reported that police received at least half a dozen alarming calls within just a few days, all describing a huge creature roaming near homes at night.

The sightings have reignited fears of the legendary Bigfoot — the giant ape-like cryptid that has fascinated Americans for decades.
Mike Miller, co-founder of the Ohio Nightstalkers Bigfoot Research Group, believes the recent snowstorms may have disrupted the creature’s habitat and forced it into populated areas.
Miller claims his group has also recorded eerie screams and howls in the woods that don’t match any known North American animal.
“Some of those screams pegged higher than a baboon on the spectograph, and that is evidence,” he said.
As the panic spread, the story quickly gained national attention and even landed on Fox & Friends, where Bigfoot eyewitness Todd Neiss defended the possibility that the creature could exist.
According to Neiss, the biggest reason no one has captured crystal-clear proof is simple: the creatures are supposedly rare and incredibly elusive.
“They are just a very rare species,” he explained. “The odds of getting one to fall right through that picture zone are difficult.”
The bizarre sightings also revived interest in one of the strangest FBI files ever made public.
Back in 1977, Bigfoot researcher Peter Byrne actually convinced the FBI to analyze mysterious hair samples believed to belong to the legendary beast. But believers were left disappointed after the bureau concluded the hairs came from a deer.
“The hairs are of deer family origin,” the FBI report stated.
Still, the fact that the FBI even agreed to test the samples has fueled conspiracy theories for years.
Skeptics, however, aren’t buying it.
Benjamin Radford of Skeptical Inquirer dismissed claims that the FBI secretly believed Bigfoot was real.
“The FBI didn’t send out a team of investigators to look for Bigfoot,” he explained. “They agreed to run an analysis of 15 hairs.”
Despite the doubts, many Ohio residents insist something unusual is happening in their communities.
Between the eerie nighttime howls, repeated eyewitness reports, and giant footprints found near homes, fear has continued spreading across the region — and for some locals, no official explanation has been convincing enough.
One thing is certain: whether it’s a hoax, a wild animal, or something much stranger, Ohio’s Bigfoot frenzy isn’t dying down anytime soon.
