What was supposed to be a glamorous, high-society night at the White House quickly took a cringe-worthy turn when Jesse Watters reportedly got himself pulled away from Queen Camilla after making a jaw-dropping comment about gun violence in Washington, D.C.
The awkward moment unfolded ahead of the lavish state dinner hosted by Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for King Charles III and Camilla, who were in town trying to smooth over tensions between the U.S. and U.K.
Watters later admitted on air that things went sideways fast.
After briefly chatting with King Charles — who reportedly had no idea who he was — Watters made his way down the line and struck up a conversation with the queen about the White House beehives. So far, so good.
But then came the line that changed everything.
“Well, you know, it was Washington D.C.,” Watters recalled saying. “If the bees don’t get you, the guns will.”
That’s when things reportedly went cold.
According to Watters, a handler immediately stepped in and began pulling him away mid-conversation — cutting the interaction short before things could get even more uncomfortable.
“I don’t know what I was saying,” he admitted. “I started mumbling.”
The ill-timed joke landed at a particularly tense moment. Just days earlier, authorities say a gunman stormed the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with an alleged plot targeting the president and top officials — putting security concerns front and center in the nation’s capital.
Still, the remark clashed with recent data. Officials have said gun violence in D.C. actually hit a decades-low in recent years, even as Trump has repeatedly blasted the city as “lawless” and taken aggressive steps like deploying the National Guard.
Despite the drama, the royal visit continued with all the pomp and ceremony expected — including speeches, garden parties, and that high-profile state dinner, the first of its kind in nearly two decades.
Watters wasn’t the only Fox personality making headlines that night.
Fellow host Greg Gutfeld also shared his own eyebrow-raising take, joking on-air about briefly “taking off with Camilla” after the formalities.
The comment raised eyebrows, adding another layer of awkwardness to an already buzzworthy night.
Fox News has not publicly responded to the incident, but one thing is clear — what was meant to be a polished diplomatic evening turned into a viral moment for all the wrong reasons.
