TV Star Dr. Pimple Popper Reveals On-Set Stroke

America’s favorite zit-zapping TV doctor is opening up about a terrifying medical emergency that nearly changed her life forever — and it happened while cameras were rolling.

Sandra Lee, better known to millions as Dr. Pimple Popper, has revealed she suffered a shocking stroke in the middle of filming her hit show Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out — and the aftermath left her grappling with a chilling reality.

“A part of my brain died,” the 55-year-old dermatologist admitted, recalling the moment everything changed.

According to Lee, the nightmare began suddenly last November while she was seeing patients on camera. What she initially brushed off as a hot flash quickly spiraled into something far more serious.

“I got super sweaty and didn’t feel like myself,” she said.

But things only got worse after filming wrapped. That night, she felt restless, experienced sharp pains in her leg, and struggled to sleep. By morning, the warning signs were impossible to ignore — weakness on one side of her body, trouble speaking, and difficulty walking.

“I thought, ‘Am I having a stroke?’” she recalled.

She was right.

Doctors later confirmed Lee had suffered an ischemic stroke — a dangerous condition caused by a blocked blood vessel in the brain. The diagnosis stunned her, especially as a physician who immediately recognized the symptoms.

“It was just a shock,” she said. “You’re thinking, this can’t be happening.”

The reality was even more brutal.

“What essentially happened… is I had a part of my brain that died.”

Filming immediately shut down as Lee entered a grueling recovery phase, spending months in physical and occupational therapy relearning basic movements — including regaining control of her hands, a critical tool in her line of work.

“I don’t like that I don’t have total control,” she admitted. “If I feel like I’m not at my best, it’s very scary.”

Behind the scenes, doctors pointed to major risk factors — including high blood pressure, cholesterol issues, and intense stress — all of which Lee now says played a role.

Despite the ordeal, the reality star pushed herself back to work by January, though she admits the emotional scars linger.

“There’s a lot of PTSD because it happened while I was filming,” she said.

Now on blood thinners and continuing therapy, Lee says she’s “pretty much back to normal” — but the experience left her with a powerful new perspective.

“It really makes you realize how precious life is,” she said.

With the new season of her show set to premiere April 20, Lee is using her platform to send a blunt warning — don’t ignore the signs.

Her message is simple, but urgent: listen to your body… because what starts as something small could turn into a life-altering moment in an instant.
