Lisa Marie Presley once feared that Scientology boss David Miscavige had her in his crosshairs — even sending people to follow her — according to explosive claims in Priscilla Presley’s new book.
In her memoir Softly, As I Leave You, Priscilla reveals that Lisa Marie stormed into Scientology’s Florida headquarters back in 2013 to confront Miscavige over his treatment of his own father. “Fearless and angry, my daughter walked into the eye of the storm,” Priscilla writes. “She told him just how she felt.”
But the aftermath left Lisa Marie terrified. “She called me from Florida and said, ‘Mom, I’m so scared. I gave it to David, and now they’re following me. There are black limos parked outside my house and following me around. This is real. This is what they do.’”
Lisa Marie, who died in 2023 at 54, had once been a devoted Scientologist but secretly spent years investigating the church before her dramatic exit. She even hinted at her disillusionment in her 2012 song You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet, calling herself “transgressive and suppressive” — terms used by the church for enemies.
Scientology is pushing back hard against Priscilla’s account. A rep told Page Six the story is “false,” claiming Lisa Marie later returned to apologize to the church, blaming drugs and “being misled by others.” They also insist the church offered the Presleys “compassion and support” during tough times.
Priscilla admits she once embraced Scientology herself, introduced to it by pal John Travolta after Elvis’ death. But while Lisa left “with a bang and a lot of headlines,” Priscilla says she slipped out quietly, though she still misses parts of it — especially the community.
The revelations add Presley star power to a long list of celebrity Scientology dramas, from Leah Remini’s lawsuits to endless speculation about Tom Cruise’s role. And Priscilla’s memoir makes clear: Lisa Marie’s battle with the church was just as fierce and haunting as her music and legacy.
