Bride Tragically Killed Days Before Wedding While Hand-Delivering Invitations

Madelyn Rosely Caracun Perez, a 24-year-old bride-to-be from Guatemala, lost her life in a tragic road accident just ten days before her wedding.

On December 4, Madelyn and her fiancé, Davilson Gesell Canimac Miranda, 29, were hand-delivering their wedding invitations—a heartfelt tradition in their community. Riding a motorbike near the San Cayetano farm in Chicacao, Suchitepéquez, the couple’s joy turned into devastation when a piece of a nearby truck’s transmission broke loose and struck their vehicle.

The accident occurred around noon, according to local outlets El Heraldo de Mexico and Milenio. The force of the collision threw Madelyn from the motorbike, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Davilson sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains under medical care.

“We are in shock,” a family member said. “Madelyn was so full of life, and they were both so excited for their future.”

Photos and videos from the crash site circulated online, showing police cordoning off the area with yellow tape as traffic was redirected. Images shared by La Prensa revealed the couple’s motorbike, intact but toppled on its side, alongside a long gray bar identified as part of the truck’s transmission.

Authorities are investigating the incident. The families of the couple, residents of Chicacao, have called for accountability.

“We need justice,” Madelyn’s mother pleaded. “No family should experience this kind of loss.”

The couple had been distributing invitations in Aldea Nahualate and Río Bravo, finishing the final preparations for their December 14 wedding. Friends and family gathered at the crash site to honor Madelyn, lighting candles and leaving flowers in her memory.

“She always put others first,” one friend shared tearfully. “Even as they prepared for their wedding, she made sure every guest felt special.”

Madelyn’s funeral is being arranged, and the families are raising funds to cover funeral costs and Davilson’s medical bills. Local community leaders are organizing support efforts, encouraging donations and solidarity during this difficult time.

“She had her whole life ahead of her,” a relative said. “Now, all we can do is ensure her story is not forgotten.
