Former First Lady Melania Trump has revealed that her son, Barron Trump, was denied the opportunity to open a new bank account due to what she describes as political discrimination from a “cancel mob.”

In her new memoir, Melania, she shares her concern over what she sees as serious civil rights violations affecting her family in the aftermath of their time in the White House.

Melania explained that shortly after the Trumps left Washington, D.C. in early 2021, her long-time bank not only terminated her account but also refused to allow her son, who is now 18, to open a new one.

“I was shocked and dismayed,” Melania wrote, calling the bank’s actions a clear case of political bias. While she did not name the institution involved, she expressed frustration over what she believes to be part of a larger trend of cancel culture targeting her family.

“The venom of cancel culture that hit our family following the events of January 6 has continued unchecked,” she stated in the memoir. She described the rejection as “troubling” and tied it to the broader socio-political climate in America. Melania further argued that the reach of cancel culture has expanded, impacting not just her family’s personal and business affairs, but even their charitable efforts.

“The cancel mob now includes corporations, traditional media, social media influencers, and cultural institutions,” she wrote. “This disturbing trend is reflective of the biases we face because of our last name and political affiliation.”

Melania also voiced frustration over the criticism her business ventures have received, comparing it to the praise heaped on other former officials who have secured multimillion-dollar media deals. She calls this disparity a clear indication of bias rooted in her family’s political background.

Despite these challenges, Melania shared that her son, Barron, is doing well as he starts his studies at New York University. “He loves his classes and professors,” she told Fox News, adding that the 6-foot-7 teen is thriving as he commutes from Trump Tower to his classes in Greenwich Village.

As cancel culture remains a contentious topic, Melania’s revelations highlight her family’s ongoing struggles with what they believe is unfair treatment stemming from their political affiliations.
