A woman once viewed as a possible future queen of Britain has died at age 75 following a brief illness.

Davina Morley, who dated King Charles III decades before he took the throne, reportedly died earlier this month with her three sons by her side.

Morley came from a prominent British family. Her grandfather was Scottish industrialist Lord Harry McGowan, and in 1976 she caught the eye of Charles, who was then the young Prince of Wales.

At the time, Charles was reportedly smitten with her, and Morley even earned the approval of the royal family — a major hurdle for any woman romantically linked to the future king.

For a time, she was considered a serious contender to become Charles’ wife and, ultimately, Britain’s queen.

But the romance came crashing down after one of Morley’s former boyfriends revealed that the couple had previously lived together.

By today’s standards, the revelation might seem insignificant. But in royal circles during the 1970s, it was reportedly viewed as an impossible obstacle for a woman expected to marry the heir to the throne.

The relationship ended, leaving Morley devastated.

She would not remain heartbroken for long.

Morley later met Jake Morley, the man friends and royal watchers described as the “love of her life.” The couple married in 1981 — the same year Charles famously married Lady Diana Spencer.

Davina and Jake went on to have three sons, Thomas, Dominic and Sebastian.

Jake died in 2022 at age 80.

Their three sons were reportedly at their mother’s bedside when she died and now survive both of their parents.

Morley’s death closes another chapter in the complicated romantic history of King Charles, whose relationships before Princess Diana have continued to fascinate royal watchers for decades.
