Meghan Markle Forced to Help in Shocking Probe into Father?

A disturbing police investigation involving Meghan Markle’s estranged father has taken a dramatic new turn, with the Duchess of Sussex revealing she was warned about troubling allegations against him eight years ago.

The revelation comes as authorities in the Philippines investigate claims that suspected child sexual abuse images were discovered among the belongings of Thomas Markle Sr., 82, after his own son reported the alleged discovery to police.

Now, questions are emerging about what Meghan knew in 2018, what British authorities did with the information they received, and whether investigators could eventually seek her assistance.

Meghan, 45, broke her silence Friday, October 23, saying she was “deeply distressed” by the reports and expressing concern for any children who may have been harmed.

In a particularly striking disclosure, the former actress revealed that allegations involving her father had been brought to the attention of British police around the time of her royal wedding to Prince Harry.

“In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me,” Meghan said.

She explained that the correspondence contained troubling accusations against her father and that she had been assured authorities were investigating.

The disclosure adds an unexpected dimension to the family’s long-running estrangement, which became international news when Thomas failed to attend Meghan’s May 2018 wedding at Windsor Castle.

For years, the breakdown in their relationship fueled headlines, interviews and public accusations. Meghan now says her decision to maintain that distance, including preventing her father from having contact with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, was motivated by concerns about her children’s safety.

Her remarks followed a report by British newspaper The Sun alleging that her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., 60, discovered a large collection of suspected illegal images while sorting through possessions at their father’s former residence in Cebu, Philippines.

According to the newspaper, Thomas Jr. claimed the material was found among old photographs, documents and electronic devices. He subsequently reported his concerns to Philippine authorities and contacted law enforcement organizations in the United States.

“When I found this material I was horrified and I had no option but to report my dad,” Thomas Jr. told The Sun.

He also said the discovery had destroyed his relationship with the father he had helped care for during years of serious health problems.

“I have supported, cared for him and helped him for years — but that stops now,” he said.

Thomas Markle Sr., however, has strongly rejected the accusations.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the retired Hollywood lighting director said he was shocked and hurt by his son’s claims, insisting he could never commit the acts being alleged.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and no criminal charges against Thomas Sr. have been publicly identified in connection with the reported discovery.

Meanwhile, the controversy has attracted attention on both sides of the Atlantic.

The FBI confirmed Friday that it was aware of the allegations and would provide assistance to Philippine authorities when appropriate. The agency also indicated it would examine any related allegations that could constitute violations of U.S. federal law.

British police are also reviewing a separate issue raised by Meghan’s statement.

London’s Metropolitan Police acknowledged reports that officers from its Royalty and Specialist Protection Command were involved in passing along the 2018 letter. The department said it was conducting internal inquiries to establish what occurred.

However, the Met clarified that it was not currently investigating an elderly man living outside the United Kingdom.

The renewed scrutiny has raised another sensitive question: Could Meghan eventually be asked to provide information to investigators?

RadarOnline reported that unnamed sources believe her acknowledgment of the earlier warning could make her relevant to efforts to establish what information was available in 2018 and how authorities responded.

That possibility remains entirely speculative. There has been no public indication that Meghan has been contacted for an interview, identified as a witness or asked to provide evidence.

The existence of the earlier letter also does not establish that Meghan witnessed wrongdoing or possessed evidence connected to the allegations now being examined in the Philippines.

What investigators ultimately determine could depend on the authenticity and origin of the reported material, the findings of any forensic examination and whether the allegations can be supported by admissible evidence.

For Meghan, the developments have reopened one of the most painful chapters of her public life.

Her estrangement from Thomas Sr. dates back to the turbulent period before her wedding, when he became embroiled in controversy over staged paparazzi photographs and subsequently withdrew from the ceremony amid health concerns.

The relationship never recovered, and Thomas has never met Meghan’s two children with Prince Harry.

Now, with a new investigation drawing international attention, Meghan says she hopes the focus remains on protecting children and establishing the truth.

Whether her 2018 warning will play any role in the current inquiries remains unknown. For now, the allegations against her father are unresolved, and authorities have not announced whether the investigation will result in criminal charges.
