Bill Cosby is reportedly facing serious health problems at age 89, with his attorney revealing that the former television star is legally blind, struggles with mobility and requires assistance with everyday activities.
The troubling details have emerged amid a growing legal battle involving multiple women who have accused the once-beloved comedian of sexual misconduct.
According to court filings described by RadarOnline, Cosby’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, says her client’s age and medical limitations have made it increasingly difficult for him to participate in legal proceedings.
Bonjean described Cosby as legally blind and suffering from several health conditions, including significant mobility problems that make traveling away from his home particularly challenging.
The former star of The Cosby Show reportedly requires a male assistant to remain with him throughout the day to help ensure his safety and assist with basic personal needs, including using the restroom.
Those limitations became an issue when Cosby missed scheduled depositions in June 2026. His attorney explained that his regular assistant was unavailable, leaving him unable to attend.
The dispute has continued as attorneys representing several accusers seek to question Cosby under oath.
Attorney Jordan Rutsky has reportedly asked a federal judge to intervene after Cosby missed three scheduled deposition appointments. The plaintiffs are seeking sanctions over what they characterize as repeated failures to cooperate with the legal process.
Bonjean has rejected suggestions that Cosby is deliberately avoiding questioning, maintaining that his medical condition and the challenges of traveling have prevented him from participating.
She has also described the comedian as largely confined to his home, arguing that requiring him to travel for a deposition could threaten his health and safety.
The reports have renewed questions about Cosby’s condition, particularly as he approaches his 90th birthday in July 2027. However, no independently verified medical assessment has established that he is terminally ill or nearing death.
Cosby’s health problems come as he faces another major challenge involving a $59.25 million civil judgment.
In March 2026, a California jury found Cosby liable for sexually assaulting Donna Motsinger in 1972. Motsinger, a former restaurant server, alleged that Cosby drugged and assaulted her after inviting her to one of his performances.
Jurors awarded her $19.25 million in compensatory damages and an additional $40 million in punitive damages.
Cosby, who has consistently denied allegations of sexual assault, disputed the verdict through his legal team.
The case has since shifted into a battle over collecting the judgment. Motsinger’s attorneys have sought information about Cosby’s finances and assets, arguing that he has failed to satisfy the substantial award.
Court filings have also raised questions about financial transactions involving Cosby’s assets. His accuser’s attorneys have alleged that certain transfers and asset sales could complicate efforts to collect the money, although those allegations do not establish that any transaction was unlawful.
The financial dispute adds another layer to the legal troubles that have overshadowed Cosby’s career for more than a decade.
Once celebrated as one of America’s most recognizable entertainers, Cosby became a household name through The Cosby Show, which aired from 1984 to 1992. His portrayal of Dr. Cliff Huxtable helped make the sitcom one of television’s biggest successes.
His public reputation collapsed after numerous women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct spanning several decades.
In 2018, Cosby was convicted in Pennsylvania of aggravated indecent assault involving Andrea Constand and sentenced to prison.
However, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned that conviction in June 2021, ruling that an earlier prosecutor’s agreement not to pursue criminal charges had been violated. Cosby was released after serving nearly three years behind bars.
The decision did not determine that the alleged assault had not occurred, and it did not prevent separate civil lawsuits from proceeding.
Now, more than five years after his release, Cosby remains entangled in litigation while his attorneys describe significant physical limitations.
Whether his reported health problems will affect upcoming depositions and other court proceedings remains uncertain. Judges must weigh documented medical limitations against the rights of plaintiffs seeking testimony and enforcement of court judgments.
For Cosby, the latest developments mark another difficult chapter in a dramatic fall from television fame, with his health, finances and legal future all facing renewed scrutiny.

Not able to defend his actions. Just wish things were different. Before all this came out he was my very favorite comedian and I have 78’s from the 1960’s with his skits. So talented. Pray if he has not found the Lord that he will.
