Talk about a bathroom emergency.
A wild scene unfolded outside MetLife Stadium on Sunday when powerful winds sent several portable toilets skidding across a parking lot as a nor’easter battered New Jersey.
Video from outside the East Rutherford stadium showed four porta potties moving surprisingly fast across the pavement, with people nearby scrambling to stay out of their path.

“Heads up!” a man can be heard shouting as the runaway toilets roll toward another person in the parking lot.
The bathrooms continued sliding across the open lot before approaching a parked van and eventually coming to a stop. The footage was shared on X by the Vintage.NewJersey account and quickly drew attention online as an unusual example of just how powerful the storm’s winds had become. New York Post
The bizarre incident happened as thousands of football fans were arriving at MetLife Stadium for Sunday’s New York Giants game against the Tennessee Titans.
According to MetLife Stadium’s official schedule, parking lots opened at 8 a.m., stadium doors opened at 11 a.m. and kickoff was scheduled for 1 p.m. MetLife Stadium
That timing put fans outside during some of the strongest winds of the day.
The National Weather Service had issued a Wind Advisory for East Rutherford and surrounding portions of northeastern New Jersey, warning of sustained northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts reaching 35 to 40 mph, with isolated gusts potentially reaching 45 mph. National Weather Service
Forecasters specifically warned that the winds could “blow around unsecured objects,” a prediction that proved unusually accurate outside the stadium.
The East Rutherford forecast also called for periods of rain throughout Sunday, with wind gusts around 40 mph possible earlier in the day. A Coastal Flood Warning was also in effect for the area. National Weather Service
The storm was causing far more serious problems elsewhere across the Northeast. High winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding knocked out electricity to tens of thousands of customers, while authorities reported dangerous conditions from New Jersey through New York and other parts of New England. Back at MetLife, however, it was the wandering toilets that provided one of the storm’s most bizarre viral moments.
For anyone walking through the parking lot Sunday morning, watching where they stepped apparently wasn’t enough.
They also had to watch what was coming at them.
