Just weeks after he delivered the heartbreaking news of Dolly Parton’s death to millions of fans, the country legend’s nephew has been abruptly removed from his longtime role overseeing security at her properties.
Bryan Seaver, Parton’s nephew and head of security for more than two decades, was notified that he and his security companies were being dismissed from all properties connected to the late singer, according to a termination notice obtained by TMZ.
The move reportedly took effect immediately, with replacement security personnel arriving at Parton’s main Nashville-area home as well as other locations associated with the superstar, including her museum, a downtown residence and a warehouse.
Seaver did not hide his frustration.
He and his team told TMZ they were “dismayed” by what they described as unexpected and unexplained actions following Parton’s death. They also accused unnamed parties involved in handling her affairs of acting in “bad faith” and trying to profit from her legacy.
Those accusations remain Seaver’s claims and have not been established in court.
According to the termination paperwork described by TMZ, the properties and certain professional business interests involved are controlled by the DP Dean Trust. The letter reportedly stressed that although Seaver had lost his security position, his personal interest in the trust had not changed.
That distinction matters because the emerging disagreement appears to involve control over security and management of Parton-related property rather than a public finding that Seaver has been stripped of an inheritance or ownership interest.
Seaver specifically criticized Parton’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell, and Pinnacle Bank in his statement about the shake-up.
“We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family,” Seaver and his team said, while alleging that some actions since Parton’s death were being taken for financial gain.
No public court ruling has substantiated those allegations.
Seaver had occupied a particularly trusted place inside Parton’s inner circle.
He is the son of Dolly’s sister Cassie Parton and said his father, Larry Seaver, handled the singer’s security before him.
When Parton died on August 25 at age 80, Seaver was the relative selected to deliver the family’s public message.
Parton’s official website posted his video alongside the formal announcement of her death, confirming that the music legend died peacefully in Nashville. Fans can watch the family’s original message on Parton’s official YouTube channel.
In that emotional appearance, Seaver reflected on spending more than 20 years protecting his famous aunt and described announcing her death as both an honor and a devastating responsibility.
Parton’s death brought an extraordinary outpouring of tributes after a career that stretched across seven decades.
Reuters reported that the “Jolene” and “9 to 5” singer died following a brief battle with cancer. Beyond selling more than 100 million records, Parton built a massive philanthropic legacy through programs including her Imagination Library, which has provided books to children around the world.
Her sister Stella Parton later revealed another striking detail about the singer’s final months.
Stella said Dolly told her that even if doctors believed there was no hope for her recovery, she would still be willing to try experimental medications if doing so might help future patients. CBS News independently reported Stella’s remarks after Parton’s death.
Parton’s official death announcement requested a small private service for immediate family and asked fans to honor her memory by supporting the Imagination Library.
Now, less than a month after her death, attention has shifted from mourning the country icon to questions about how her sprawling collection of properties and business interests will be managed without her.

No publicly reported lawsuit has established wrongdoing in connection with Seaver’s dismissal, and his reported interest in the DP Dean Trust remains intact.
