Former Baywatch Hawaii and McLeod’s Daughters actress Simmone Jade Mackinnon is grieving after her missing sister was found dead in Australia.

Kym Mackinnon, 51, was discovered dead in the Tamborine Mountain area of Queensland earlier this month, just one day after Simmone made a desperate public appeal for help finding her.

Kym had reportedly been missing since Aug. 7 and was last seen on Guanaba Road in Tamborine Mountain.

Queensland Police later confirmed that a woman believed to be Kym had been found dead in the area.

Authorities said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the non-suspicious death of a woman at Tamborine Mountain,” police said in a statement. “There is no further information at this time.”

The devastating discovery came shortly after Simmone turned to the public for help locating her sister.

Kym’s daughter, Rayne Johnsen, later shared an emotional tribute remembering the woman who raised her and encouraged her dreams.

“Thank you for raising me, teaching me discipline & diligence, driving me to dancing Monday to Friday after school for 15 years, the endless weekend road trips to Byron to visit good old aunty Maggie,” Rayne wrote.

She said her mother taught her how to become an independent woman and was always her biggest supporter.

“You always believed in me and in every dream and ambition I had,” Rayne continued. “You made me believe that I could do anything, and you were always there cheering me on as I picked up yet another hobby or chased another dream.”

Rayne remembered her mother as someone who loved performing and knew how to command attention.

“To the showgirl, the dancer, the star,” she wrote. “You sure knew how to put on a show, both on stage and off.”

Simmone, meanwhile, became familiar to American television viewers when she played Allie Reese on Baywatch Hawaii from 1999 to 2000.

She later became well known in Australia for starring in the popular drama McLeod’s Daughters.

Simmone stepped away from acting in 2024 to focus on raising her son.

Her sister’s death is now being handled by the coroner as the family mourns the heartbreaking loss.
