A Brooklyn mother was brutally stabbed to death during a late-night park barbecue after repeatedly rejecting a man’s sexual advances, police said — with her horrified 7-year-old son reportedly witnessing the deadly attack.

Shakeema Davis, 30, was stabbed multiple times in the head and body inside Lincoln Terrace–Arthur S. Somers Park in Crown Heights shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to the NYPD.

Even more chilling, Davis had organized the gathering herself, and police say the man suspected in her killing called her to find out where the party was being held before showing up.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said the group spent the evening drinking, smoking and listening to music before the suspect allegedly began repeatedly propositioning Davis for sex.

She refused.

Police say the unwanted advances eventually sparked an argument that quickly spiraled out of control.

According to Kenny, Davis threw a drink on the man as the confrontation escalated. When he allegedly began attacking her, she grabbed the barbecue grill and used it in an attempt to fight him off.

That was when police say the suspect pulled out a knife.

He allegedly stabbed Davis three times.

The wounded mother was rushed to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, but doctors were unable to save her.

Investigators have identified a strong person of interest and the vehicle allegedly used to flee the scene, though police said Thursday they had not yet developed enough probable cause to make an arrest.

Authorities believe Davis and the suspected attacker knew each other before the deadly encounter.

But Davis’ mother, 60-year-old Adra Pegues, told the New York Daily News that her daughter had only gone on one date with the man and quickly decided she wasn’t interested.

“He wasn’t her type,” Pegues said, adding that some people simply “won’t take no for an answer.”

The grieving mother called her daughter’s killer a “coward” and a “weak man.”

Perhaps the most heartbreaking detail is that Davis’ 7-year-old son was reportedly among the roughly 15 to 20 people at the park when his mother was killed.

Several witnesses apparently tried to stop the attacker.

Kenny said two or three people told detectives they attempted to grab and hold the suspect for police, but he allegedly continued swinging the knife, forcing them back.

Davis’ longtime friend, identified only as Freddie, told WPIX that he desperately tried to keep her alive after the stabbing.

He removed his shirt and wrapped it around her wounds in an attempt to stop the bleeding.

“I tried to save her,” he said, recalling that Davis took her final breaths in his arms.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to build their case against the person of interest.
