Man Dies of Heart Attack While Attempting to Dispose of Woman’s Body After Murder

A Georgia man accused of strangling a woman allegedly died of a heart attack while trying to dump her body in a remote Alabama location, investigators say.

Authorities say the bizarre and grim case unfolded on June 10, when deputies with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office found a pickup truck stuck near a rural county road. What they discovered next led them into a nearby wooded area, where they located 44-year-old Daniel Robbins and 47-year-old Jessica Folds.

District Attorney Mike Segrest said evidence gathered by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, along with an autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, determined that Folds had been strangled.

“Based on the investigation by ALEA and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, and the autopsy done by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, the female victim was strangled, and it appears the male was attempting to dispose of the body in a remote location,” Segrest said in a statement, according to AL.com.

Then came the shocking twist.

Investigators believe Robbins suffered a fatal heart attack while allegedly trying to get rid of Folds’ body.

Authorities have not determined exactly where the alleged strangulation happened, but they believe the deadly incident was domestic in nature.

Folds, a mother of three, was remembered in her obituary as a hardworking woman who held multiple jobs in the Auburn-Opelika area.

“Jessica touched the lives of many with her heart of gold, deep love for everyone, and a smile that brightened the world,” her obituary said.

With both Robbins and Folds dead, authorities have indicated the investigation is effectively closed.
