Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff are putting on a very public show of unity.
The former vice president and her husband stepped out together at a World Cup match in Los Angeles, cuddling up in the stands as divorce rumors continue to swirl around their marriage and Harris’ possible political comeback.
Harris, 61, and Emhoff, also 61, attended the U.S. Men’s National Team’s final group stage match against Turkey on June 25 at Los Angeles Stadium. The couple appeared all smiles as they mixed with celebrities, wrapped themselves in Team USA gear and even got a famous boy band star to play photographer.
“Let’s go @usmnt! And thank you to our excellent photographer, Lance Bass,” the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post.
Bass, 47, was seen snapping photos with Emhoff’s phone as the entertainment lawyer placed a Team USA scarf around Harris, his wife of 11 years.
The former NSYNC singer jumped into the comments with a cheeky message, writing, “Always there for the assist.”
The couple watched the game from a luxury suite packed with famous faces, including Kelly Rowland, actress Malin Akerman, screenwriter Matheos Coelho and Bass.
Bass also shared his own photos from the outing, including a shot with Harris and a playful selfie with Emhoff.
“Consider this my official application to be Team USA’s hype man,” the Bye Bye Bye singer joked.
But the happy night quickly turned into an online pile-on.
Shortly after Harris and Emhoff posted from the game, Turkey scored a last-minute goal and beat the U.S. team 3-2. That was all critics on X needed to pounce.
“We were undefeated until they showed up,” one user complained.
Another took a jab at Harris’ 2024 election loss to Donald Trump, writing, “Apparently, losing is contagious.”
A third person mocked the former vice president as a “bad luck charm,” adding, “Next time, leave the politicians at home and let America win!”
Others used the soccer loss to drag up the couple’s marriage rumors.
“Are they still doing the married couple charade?” one person asked.
The public appearance comes after months of speculation about Harris and Emhoff’s relationship. The chatter grew louder while Harris spent much of late 2025 on a book tour that stretched into this year.
The couple has also made major changes in their private life. Earlier this year, Harris and Emhoff bought an $8.15 million mansion in Malibu after relocating from their longtime Brentwood home.
That Brentwood property had belonged to Emhoff before the couple married and had served as their main California residence while Harris was not in Washington, D.C.
Before becoming vice president under Joe Biden, Harris served as a U.S. senator from California from 2017 until 2021.
Her political future is now the subject of fresh speculation.
Harris was elevated to the top of the Democratic ticket in 2024 after Biden dropped out of the race following growing questions about his age and a disastrous debate performance against Trump.
Trump ultimately defeated Harris, but she has not closed the door on another White House run in 2028.
After deciding not to enter California’s 2026 governor’s race, Harris told Reverend Al Sharpton in April that she was still weighing another presidential campaign.
“Listen, I might. I might. I’m thinking about it. I’m thinking about it,” Harris said. “I know what the job is and what it requires. I’ll keep you posted.”
For now, Harris and Emhoff appear determined to send a clear message: whatever people are saying online, they are still standing together.
