A 21-year-old woman plunged 130 feet to her death after she was allegedly thrown off a bridge for a bungee-style jump without a cord attached.
Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas died Saturday during the horrifying incident in Limeira, São Paulo, according to Brazilian outlet Globo.
Disturbing video shared on social media reportedly showed de Freitas being carried toward the edge of the abandoned “Skeleton Bridge” by staff before being thrown over.
Moments after she fell, a witness filming the jump appeared to realize something had gone terribly wrong.
“Guys, the rope!” the witness shouted, pointing to the cord that had been left behind on the ground.
A police helicopter was called to the scene, but de Freitas died there.
Her fiancé was reportedly watching when she plummeted from the bridge, police said. He later became ill at the scene and had to be taken for medical care.
De Freitas, a physical education and sports management student, had posted about the adventure on Instagram shortly before the fatal jump.
“Who was the crazy person who let me jump off a bridge?” she wrote jokingly on her Instagram Story, according to O Globo.
The location where the tragedy happened is disturbingly known as Skeleton Bridge. One warning sign at the site reportedly included the word “danger” and graffiti referencing the risk of death.
Six people have been arrested following the fatal fall, including three people who were at the scene of the jump.
Police said two of the suspects tried to flee after the incident and were later tracked down by helicopter in a wooded area.

Tragically sad and totally irresponsible!
