Marilyn Monroe’s Scandalous on-Set Moment Revealed

Marilyn Monroe was never just another Hollywood star.

She was the blonde bombshell who could stop a room cold, turn a movie set upside down, and leave co-stars talking for decades.

Now, ahead of what would have been her 100th birthday, one of the most outrageous stories from the set of Some Like It Hot is making the rounds again — and it shows Monroe at her bold, playful, and scandalous best.

According to the story, the unforgettable moment happened after famed costume designer Orry-Kelly made a cheeky remark about Monroe’s co-star Tony Curtis.

The Australian-American designer reportedly joked to Monroe that Curtis had a “nicer butt” than she did.

Monroe was not about to let that slide.

In true Marilyn fashion, the screen siren reportedly pulled open her blouse just enough to make her point and fired back, “Yeah, but he doesn’t have t–s like these!”

It was the kind of wild, flirty comeback that only Marilyn could get away with.

The moment became part of the legend surrounding Some Like It Hot, the 1959 comedy that is still considered one of the greatest films ever made.

But behind the laughs, the movie’s production was reportedly anything but easy.

Monroe, who played the irresistible singer Sugar Kane, was already one of the biggest stars in the world. But she was also known for struggling badly with her lines on set.

One now-famous scene required her to simply search through dresser drawers and ask, “Where’s the bourbon?”

It should have been simple.

Instead, it reportedly took dozens of takes.

Director Billy Wilder was said to have become so frustrated that he had the line pasted inside one of the drawers so Monroe could read it. But even that did not solve the problem, because Monroe then allegedly forgot which drawer held the note.

There were also long-running rumors that her lines sometimes had to be held up on cue cards off camera.

Still, not everyone dismissed her talent.

Jack Lemmon, who starred alongside Monroe and Curtis in the film, later defended her instincts as a performer.

“She knew she was limited and go—–ed well knew what was right for Marilyn,” Lemmon once said. “She wasn’t about to do anything else.”

Some Like It Hot followed two musicians, played by Curtis and Lemmon, who disguise themselves as women and join an all-female jazz band after witnessing a mob murder.

Curtis’ character tries to win over Monroe’s Sugar Kane by pretending to be a millionaire, while Lemmon’s character finds himself hilariously pursued by an actual millionaire.

The film was daring for its time, especially with its cross-dressing plot and racy humor. But the off-screen drama may have been even juicier.

Monroe and Curtis reportedly had a secret affair while filming the movie, even though both were married at the time.

Monroe was married to playwright Arthur Miller. Curtis was married to actress Janet Leigh.

Their relationship became one of Hollywood’s most talked-about scandals.

Curtis later opened up about Monroe in his memoir, describing their time together in a way that painted her as both magnetic and mysterious.

“When I was in bed with Marilyn, I was never sure, before, during or after, where her mind was,” Curtis wrote. “She was an actress. She could play a part. She could give the part what she thought a man wanted. I never asked for more. What I experienced with her was unforgettable.”

Curtis also claimed Monroe became pregnant with his child during their affair.

He said he was stunned when he learned the news.

“I just stood there. The room was so silent that I could hear tires screeching on Santa Monica Boulevard,” he wrote.

Tragically, Monroe suffered a miscarriage in 1958.

Just four years later, the Hollywood icon was dead at only 36 years old.

Her death was officially ruled a probable suicide by overdose, but it has remained one of the most debated and mysterious tragedies in entertainment history.

Decades later, Monroe’s legacy still burns bright.

She was glamorous, troubled, funny, difficult, seductive, and unforgettable.

And stories like this one from the Some Like It Hot set prove why Hollywood has never had another star quite like Marilyn Monroe.
