Comedian Nearly Crushed to Death in Freak ‘Fridge’ Accident (Video)

Comedian Laura Clery is lucky to be alive after a horrifying freak accident inside her home left her pinned by a massive refrigerator while her young children were nearby.

The 39-year-old internet star revealed that what should have been a normal night at home turned into a terrifying fight for survival when her 600-pound fridge suddenly slammed into her and trapped her against the kitchen counter.

Clery called it the “most terrifying night of my life as a single mom” in an emotional Instagram post shared Thursday.

“I was home alone getting ready for bed when my 600 pound fridge slammed into me and pinned me against the counter,” she wrote.

According to Clery, the situation quickly became horrifying. She said she could not move. Even worse, she said she could not breathe.

Her two children, 7-year-old Alfie and 5-year-old Poppy, were home when the nightmare unfolded.

“I genuinely didn’t know if I was getting out of that alive,” Clery admitted.

The comedian said she somehow managed to call 911 from the phone in her pocket while she was still trapped under the appliance.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and had to work together to free her.

“It took three firefighters to lift it off me,” she said. “I’m still shaking.”

Clery also posted video showing herself being taken into an ambulance after the accident. In the clip, she could be heard asking first responders whether they believed she had broken anything.

“That’s why we are going to take you to a trauma center,” one firefighter told her.

Clery then groaned in pain and said, “F—k, it hurts.”

In a Patreon post, Clery shared more details about the terrifying scene, saying the pain was so intense that it almost did not feel real.

She said the sound of her daughter Penelope crying made her panic even more, while her son Alfie ran outside, likely terrified by what was happening.

Clery, who is now back home recovering, even managed to find a dark bit of humor in the terrifying situation.

While she was trapped, she said one thought crossed her mind: “This is the dumbest way anyone has ever died.”

Fans quickly flooded her comments with support after she shared the shocking story.

“Sending you so much love. This is terrifying and absolutely a single mums worst fear,” one person wrote. “I’m so sorry Laura and so glad you’re all okay.”

Another added, “I’m really glad you are ok and that help got to you fast.”

But not everyone was sympathetic. Some followers criticized Clery for recording part of the ordeal as she was being placed into the ambulance.

“Why were you recording in the middle of getting put into an ambulance?” one person asked.

Another wrote, “The firefighters are clearly annoyed. Nobody records after something like that.”

Clery has been raising her children as a single mother since splitting from British record producer Stephen Hilton in early 2023 after a decade of marriage.

The comedian has previously said Hilton’s relapse into substance addiction played a major role in the end of their relationship.

In a May 2025 Instagram post, Clery reflected on reaching a “breakthrough” in her life and said she wanted “peace,” “connection,” and to be around people who bring out the best in her.

“I want out of the chaos and the toxicity,” she wrote at the time. “I have no desire to engage in drama.”

Now, after surviving what she described as a near-death freak accident, Clery appears to be focused on healing, staying close to her kids, and recovering from one of the scariest nights of her life.

  1. What’s missing from this? ONLY A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF HOW SUCH A REFRIGERATOR ATTACK COULD HAPPEN, that’s what.

I KNOW I’m not the only one left breathlessly puzzled as to how you could leave the explanation out!

Whatever happened to the “5 Ws” of journalism – who, what, when, where and why? Also the 1H is useful, and was key here: HOW???

HOW does something like that happen. She claims she was “home alone, getting ready for bed” and then her two kids are there (so, not home alone). And people on her Instagram are saying she did this for likes/clicks (etc) and why was she recording it, why is she posting this on her IG and more …. some are defending her, some not. I’m curious how the fridge “slammed into her” – was it on some kind of bracing system and it let go, or on unstable/unbalanced flooring? Did she lose her balance and slam into it (instead of the other way around), thus making it move/wobble and eventually fall on her?

I’m glad she seems to be ok, no serious injuries, however, there are some unanswered questions here.
