Things got heated fast for Benedict Cumberbatch after the Hollywood actor was caught in a dramatic roadside screaming match with another cyclist in the middle of busy London traffic.
The 49-year-old “Sherlock” and “Doctor Strange” star allegedly ran a red light while riding a pricey £5,200 electric cargo bike Tuesday evening — and one furious cyclist wasn’t about to let it slide.
Instead, the masked biker reportedly chased after the actor before confronting him in a jaw-dropping public argument that stunned pedestrians and left fans frozen in place.
Video from the chaotic scene shows the cyclist yelling at Cumberbatch, calling him “deluded” and accusing him of lying about what happened.
“You’re lying. I was behind you the entire time,” the cyclist shouted during the tense exchange.
But Cumberbatch fired back, accusing the man of going too far.
“Dude, you verbally abused me,” the actor snapped.
That only made things worse.
The cyclist sarcastically mocked the actor before accusing him of repeatedly breaking traffic laws.
“Oh no, I verbally abused the guy who completely repeatedly broke the law,” the man said, while Cumberbatch admitted, “I did it once.”
The argument reportedly dragged on for nearly ten minutes as crowds gathered around the scene in disbelief.
One witness said the confrontation felt so dramatic it almost looked staged.
“It was crazy,” the onlooker said. “He was calling Benedict ‘deluded’ and ‘a liar.’ Everyone was just standing there with jaws dropped.”
The witness claimed the trouble started around 5:30 p.m. after spotting Cumberbatch allegedly ride through a red light in a cycle lane while another cyclist chased behind him.
At one point, the actor reportedly got off his bike and crossed the street specifically to confront the man face-to-face.
Despite the chaos, witnesses said Cumberbatch still managed to charm nearby fans during the meltdown.
A group of stunned school kids reportedly recognized him immediately and asked, “Is that Doctor Strange?”
According to the witness, the actor calmly told them, “Not at the moment, in a minute,” before later posing for selfies once the argument finally cooled off.
The fan who recorded the confrontation even defended the actor somewhat, saying the cyclist’s aggressive pursuit may have made the situation worse.
“I don’t condone dangerous driving,” the witness explained, “but for this guy to follow him and cause an incident like this was worse than Benedict slowly cutting that light.”
Ironically, this isn’t the first time Cumberbatch has found himself tangled up in drama involving cyclists.
Back in 2019, the actor was reportedly slapped by an angry biker after his car allegedly knocked the man off his bicycle on a country lane in the Isle of Wight.
According to reports at the time, the cyclist got up after the collision and immediately slapped the actor — before realizing he had just hit an A-list movie star.
Despite the heated moment, Cumberbatch reportedly stayed calm, offering the injured cyclist water, clothing, and even a ride to a nearby medical center.
Police were contacted after the incident, though the actor reportedly chose not to press charges over the slap.
