Three months after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie seemingly vanished into thin air, a chilling new twist is sending shockwaves through her quiet Arizona neighborhood — and raising even more questions in a case that’s already gripped the nation.
Residents in the upscale Catalina Foothills are now on edge after newly surfaced surveillance footage captured a masked man creeping through the area late at night — just blocks from where Guthrie was last seen alive.
The eerie video, obtained by News 4 Tucson, shows a man dressed in dark clothing, gloves, and a baseball cap wandering onto private property around 11 p.m. on April 29. But what really has neighbors rattled isn’t just the trespassing — it’s the unsettling behavior. The masked figure was caught on camera stealing potted cacti before quietly slipping away into the night.
Even more alarming? He was reportedly driving a gray Ford F-150 — and no one seems to know who he is.
Authorities have not confirmed any connection between the mysterious prowler and Guthrie’s disappearance, but for residents already shaken by the unsolved case, the timing feels anything but coincidental.
“It’s someone walking onto your property late at night, uninvited — that alone is disturbing,” neighbor Jeff Lamie said. “It may seem like a small crime, but it makes you realize how vulnerable we really are.”
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department admitted they were not immediately aware of the footage when contacted, but said they are now looking into it. This comes as patrols in the area had already been stepped up following earlier reports of suspicious activity — including complaints about a YouTuber allegedly harassing locals.
Still, none of it brings answers to the haunting question at the center of it all: What happened to Nancy Guthrie?

During a recent episode of The Interview Room, a caller pressed for the release of 911 calls tied to Guthrie’s disappearance — but was met with a sobering reality.
Retired detective Bob Gilliam, a 36-year law enforcement veteran, suggested the recordings likely contain critical information investigators are not ready to reveal.
“There could be a myriad of reasons for that,” he said. “There’s probably something in there they don’t want getting out just yet.”
His message to the public was blunt: don’t expect answers anytime soon.
