Shakira Crew Member Killed in Horror Stage Accident

A dream concert on one of the world’s most famous beaches turned into a nightmare when a crew member was killed in a horrific accident while preparing the stage for Shakira’s upcoming performance in Brazil.

The tragedy unfolded Sunday afternoon on Copacabana Beach, where crews were racing to assemble the massive setup for “Todo Mundo no Rio,” a high-profile public concert expected to draw huge crowds and global attention.

According to organizers, the worker was fatally injured during stage construction when a lifting system malfunctioned, leaving him with devastating crushing injuries to his lower limbs. Fellow workers reportedly rushed to pull him free before emergency crews arrived, but the situation quickly spiraled into a desperate fight to save his life.

Fire brigade officials confirmed that first responders began emergency treatment at the scene before transporting the victim to Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Witnesses described a scene of sudden panic and chaos. One beachgoer said people began running “out of nowhere” as part of the structure collapsed, trapping the worker underneath. Others scrambled to help, frantically trying to lift debris and free him.

Organizers addressed the tragedy in a somber statement, confirming the death and expressing support for the victim’s family and coworkers. “We are providing all support, comfort, and solidarity,” the statement read, as the massive event now faces a dark cloud ahead of its highly anticipated kickoff.

The concert, backed by city officials and expected to draw millions, was meant to be a celebration of music and tourism in Rio. Instead, it’s now raising serious questions about safety conditions behind the scenes of one of the year’s biggest live events.

Officials have not yet released the worker’s identity, and it remains unclear whether the show will proceed as planned.
