Priest Gives Shocking Warning: ‘The Stage Is Set’ For The Antichrist

A Catholic priest is sending chills through the internet with a dramatic claim: today’s global chaos, moral upheaval, and fast-moving tech could be lining up in ways that Christian tradition has long warned about.

Appearing on the Shawn Ryan Show, Father Chad Ripperger said he believes the conditions some early Church thinkers associated with the rise of the Antichrist are starting to look uncomfortably familiar — especially when it comes to the world’s economic direction.

“The Antichrist has to be able to rule the world,” Ripperger said. But he argued it wouldn’t happen through politics alone. “He’s not going to rule through governance. He’s going to rule it through economies.”

In Christian belief, the Antichrist is described as a powerful deceiver who opposes Jesus Christ and pulls masses away from the faith before the end of the world. And Ripperger suggested the groundwork for that kind of influence could be forming in plain sight.

He pointed to what he described as decades of moral breakdown as one of the biggest “signs” that ancient warnings are starting to match modern reality.

“That’s happened since the 1950s,” he said, describing what he sees as a long-term “implosion” in society’s relationship with God’s laws and what he called natural law. In his view, that trend is part of why he believes “the stage is set.”

But the priest’s most striking warning wasn’t about politics, wars, or elections. It was about control — and specifically, financial control.

Ripperger suggested that modern banking systems and emerging digital technologies could create the kind of centralized economic power described in biblical prophecy, including a future where access to money becomes conditional.

“That’s why they talk about the mark of the beast,” he said, adding that he believes society is moving toward a world where people could be locked out of commerce if they don’t comply with certain demands.

“We’re almost there,” he claimed, warning that digital currency systems could theoretically be used to deny people the ability to buy or sell unless they “sign off on certain things.”

In the Book of Revelation, the “mark of the beast” is described as a requirement for buying and selling — a detail that has fueled speculation for centuries. Ripperger said new technologies could potentially resemble that mechanism, pointing to ideas like digital IDs, microchips, or other forms of verification linked to financial access.

“So it’s going to be something in our bodies that will give us access to these particular things,” he said.

He also framed the concept as a dark mirror of baptism in Catholic tradition. In Catholic teaching, baptism leaves a permanent spiritual mark on the soul — symbolizing belonging to Christ — and includes visible gestures like the sign of the cross traced on the forehead. Ripperger claimed the “mark” described in prophecy is often viewed as an inversion of that idea: a sign of loyalty to a different authority.

According to him, the pressure would be simple and brutal: comply, or get cut off.

“I think that’s one of the ways how he’s going to control people is through digital currencies,” he said, claiming it could be used to “shut people off” and “starve people out” if they refuse to abandon Christian convictions.

When asked how people who reject the mark would survive, Ripperger said it could demand extreme sacrifice.

“You have to be willing to sacrifice the lesser good in order to achieve the greater good,” he said. “You have to be willing to… follow Christ regardless of the personal cost.”

Still, he stopped short of declaring it’s all happening tomorrow.

“I don’t think that he’s just immediately around the corner,” he said. “But I could be wrong in that.”

Even with that caveat, his warning landed like a thunderclap: rapid technological change, shifting global systems, and a world increasingly organized through digital access could be steering humanity toward the kind of conditions ancient prophecies described — whether people believe it literally, symbolically, or not at all.
