Country music legend Dolly Parton gave fans a reason to smile this Thanksgiving, sharing a heartfelt holiday message just weeks after revealing she’d been battling health issues.
The 79-year-old superstar, who postponed her Las Vegas residency earlier this fall to undergo “a few procedures,” took to Instagram on Thursday to express gratitude and love for her fans.
“Well, hey! It’s Dolly here, and I want to wish all of you and your family blessings this Thanksgiving,” she said in her signature warm Southern drawl. “I am so thankful for all of you and for the memories that we’ve shared through the years. So Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and just know that I will always love you.”
Fans flooded the comments with love and well-wishes for the “9 to 5” icon, who admitted in September that she’d been facing “health challenges.” At the time, Dolly said, “I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”
Her announcement set off a wave of concern among her devoted followers — and even her sister, Freida Parton, admitted she’d been “up all night praying.”
But in classic Dolly fashion, the country queen soon put everyone’s minds at ease with her trademark humor and positivity. “Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here,” she said in an October video update. “I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease. Those that seemed to be real concerned, which I appreciate, and I appreciate your prayers.”
Even amid her health journey, Parton’s Thanksgiving message was a reminder of what’s always mattered most to her: love, gratitude, and connection. And judging by the outpouring of comments, that love is more than mutual.
