Wendy’s Worker Stabbed to Death by Crazed Customer

A tragic incident unfolded at a Wendy’s in Nānākuli, Hawaii, on Sunday morning when 22-year-old employee Kashka Otto was fatally stabbed following an altercation with a customer.

According to reports, Reynaldo Cheney, 60, attacked Otto during a dispute over rearranging tables inside the restaurant. Cheney, who had an outstanding warrant for illegal camping, was arrested on charges of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree murder, and second-degree attempted murder.

The confrontation reportedly began when Cheney called Otto a derogatory name, leading Otto to respond with a punch. In retaliation, Cheney allegedly stabbed Otto.

Witnesses said Otto, who had been a standout volleyball player at Waianae High School, was attempting to escort Cheney from the restaurant when the argument escalated.

Otto’s colleague, Sophie Tabag, described him as a kind and friendly person who always greeted customers with a smile. “He was a great person,” she told reporters.

Another Wendy’s employee, 44, was also seriously injured during the altercation but has since been treated and released from the hospital. Both victims were taken to the hospital, but sadly, Otto did not survive his injuries.

Cheney, who had been living in a tent near a beach for years, is currently being held on $1 million bail as the Honolulu Police Department investigates the incident as a homicide. Authorities have not released further details, and the suspect’s charges are still pending.
