A Sunday afternoon near Disneyland took a grim turn when a man was found dead just outside the famous California theme park, prompting a police response and temporarily closing off an entrance area.
The disturbing discovery unfolded on October 25 near the Disneyland Resort’s south entrance along Katella Avenue in Anaheim, where emergency crews responded to reports of an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk.
Anaheim police arrived around 1:40 p.m. and discovered the 65-year-old man near the resort’s perimeter. Paramedics from Anaheim Fire and Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.
Officers quickly secured the surrounding area, temporarily blocking a pedestrian walkway and forcing visitors to take alternate routes while investigators waited for officials from the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
The unexpected police activity created a somber scene outside one of America’s most recognizable tourist destinations, famously known as the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
Anaheim Police Sgt. Eric Anderson said the man was experiencing homelessness and was known to local law enforcement. His identity has not been publicly released.
Despite the unsettling circumstances, investigators said they found no indication of foul play. Anderson explained that the man appeared to have died of natural causes, although an official cause of death has not yet been announced.
Authorities have also not confirmed whether the man was found on Disneyland property or an adjacent public sidewalk.
The temporary restrictions were concentrated near the resort’s southern perimeter, with no reported disruption to attractions inside the theme parks.
The incident has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the man’s final hours, though police have given no indication that his death was suspicious.
For now, investigators believe the tragedy was a medical event rather than a criminal incident, leaving an unexpected and heartbreaking scene outside one of the world’s most beloved vacation destinations.
