King Charles ‘Hardly Eating’ as Explosive Diana Claims Rock Royal Family

King Charles is reportedly struggling behind palace walls as explosive new claims about his troubled marriage to Princess Diana drag one of the royal family’s most painful chapters back into the spotlight.

An unnamed source claims the 77-year-old monarch has been “hardly eating” and struggling to sleep after the publication of Charles Spencer’s new memoir, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.”

The book, released in September, contains a series of extraordinary allegations from Diana’s younger brother about her marriage, divorce and the bitter aftermath of her 1997 death.

Among the most startling is Spencer’s recollection of a private conversation in which Diana allegedly told him that her then-husband, the future King Charles III, was “in love with his valet.”

The allegation has attracted enormous attention, but there is no independent evidence establishing that Charles had a romantic relationship with a male member of his staff.

In fact, Spencer himself reportedly regarded his sister’s claim as improbable at the time.

Charles and Diana married in 1981, separated in 1992 and finalized their divorce in 1996. Their deeply troubled marriage had already become the subject of intense public scrutiny, particularly over Charles’ long-running relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles, who later became Queen Camilla.

Now, nearly three decades after Diana’s death, Spencer’s memoir has reopened many of those old wounds.

A source quoted by Closer UK claimed the King has become consumed with the controversy surrounding the book.

“All the King can talk about right now is this book and everything it’s dredged up,” the unidentified source alleged, adding that Charles is angry over the allegations and worried about what else could emerge.

The same source claimed the controversy has affected the King’s sleep and appetite and described him as being constantly on edge.

Those claims have not been confirmed by Buckingham Palace or other independent sources, and the palace has not announced any new concern about Charles’ health connected to Spencer’s book.

The distinction is particularly important because Charles has already faced genuine health concerns in recent years. The palace announced in 2024 that the King had been diagnosed with cancer, and his treatment has remained a matter of considerable public interest.

Queen Camilla is reportedly standing by her husband as the controversy unfolds.

The Closer source claimed Camilla also feels personally targeted as the public once again dissects the collapse of Charles and Diana’s marriage and Charles’ relationship with the woman who would eventually become queen.

But Spencer’s allegations involving Diana’s marriage are only part of what has generated headlines.

He also offered a deeply unflattering account of Charles’ behavior following Diana’s death in a Paris car crash on Aug. 31, 1997.

Spencer wrote that Charles sounded “giddily elated” during a telephone conversation after Diana died, comparing his demeanor to that of someone who had won the lottery.

He further alleged that the future king made a shocking remark during an argument over funeral arrangements, telling him that Diana would soon be forgotten.

Buckingham Palace took the unusual step of responding publicly.

While the palace normally declines to comment on books about the royal family, it issued a pointed statement suggesting that Spencer’s memories of the emotionally overwhelming days following his sister’s death may have been affected by grief.

Spencer has strongly rejected that suggestion and insists his memory of the exchanges is accurate.

The dispute has turned what might otherwise have been another royal memoir into a surprisingly direct public battle between Diana’s brother and Buckingham Palace.

Spencer has continued defending the book during promotional appearances, saying he wanted to tell the story of Diana as his sister rather than simply as one of the most famous women in the world.

Charles, meanwhile, has not personally addressed the latest reports about his emotional state or the allegation involving a valet.

That leaves two dramatically different stories circulating at once: Spencer’s explosive recollections of what Diana supposedly told him decades ago, and anonymous claims that those revelations are now taking a heavy personal toll on the King.

What is clear is that nearly 30 years after Princess Diana’s death, the bitter disputes surrounding her marriage and treatment by the royal family remain powerful enough to ignite a fresh palace controversy.
