Queen Camilla’s Doctor Found Dead and Husband is Charged with Murder

A respected doctor who reportedly cared for members of Britain’s royal family was found dead inside her home during a children’s sleepover — and her husband has now been charged with her murder.

Dr. Hannah Cain, 45, who was professionally known as Dr. Hannah Terry, was discovered unresponsive in an upstairs bedroom of the family’s home in Dersingham, Norfolk, during the early hours of Sunday, October 4.

The home sits close to the royal family’s Sandringham Estate, where King Charles III and Queen Camilla regularly spend time.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 2:25 a.m. after paramedics attended the property. Dr. Cain was not breathing and was unconscious when emergency crews found her.

Her husband, 45-year-old Mark Cain, was arrested following the discovery and was formally charged with murder on Tuesday.

He appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 7, where he spoke only to confirm his personal details and was not asked to enter a plea.

Cain was ordered to remain in custody and is due to appear at King’s Lynn Crown Court on Thursday.

Disturbing preliminary findings from Dr. Cain’s post-mortem examination were also revealed during Wednesday’s hearing.

A prosecutor told the court that doctors identified a blunt-force injury to the right side of her head as well as another injury that could be consistent with compression of the neck.

Norfolk Police previously said the official cause of death remained pending further investigation.

Adding another disturbing element to the case, children were reportedly inside the house when Dr. Cain was found.

The doctor had reportedly been hosting a sleepover for her children and their friends that weekend. She was a mother of three boys.

Dr. Cain worked as a general practitioner at Grimston Medical Centre, located several miles from Sandringham.

She was reportedly part of a small group of local doctors who provided medical care to members of the royal household while they were staying at the sprawling Norfolk estate.

Queen Camilla has been reported to have been among the senior royals treated by Dr. Cain, although Buckingham Palace has not publicly detailed her medical relationship with individual members of the royal family.

King Charles and Queen Camilla have reportedly been informed of the doctor’s death.

Dr. Cain had also previously worked at another nearby medical practice and operated an aesthetics business alongside her work as a GP.

News of her death has stunned colleagues and residents in the quiet Norfolk community.

Julie-Ann Rayner, a former colleague, remembered Dr. Cain as an exceptionally caring physician and person who was deeply devoted to her family.

She said those who knew the doctor were struggling to process what had happened and were especially concerned for her children.

Other people familiar with the family described them as active and well known around the village, making the sudden death even more shocking to neighbors.

Grimston Medical Centre temporarily closed following the tragedy because of what it described as extremely difficult circumstances affecting its staff.

Norfolk Police said specialist officers are supporting Dr. Cain’s family, who have requested privacy.

The Crown Prosecution Service stressed that criminal proceedings against Mark Cain are now active. A murder charge is an allegation, and guilt can only be determined by a court.

The investigation remains ongoing.
