Howie Mandel Narrowly Escapes Burning Car as It Explodes

Howie Mandel got a terrifying front-row seat to a car fire when the burning vehicle suddenly erupted behind him just moments after his daughter warned him to move away.

The 70-year-old comedian and television personality was apparently out with his daughter when they came across a vehicle engulfed in flames near a Food 4 Less store.

Video of the frightening encounter quickly spread across social media after showing Mandel standing only a short distance from the burning vehicle while filming the scene himself.

Then came a warning that proved to be perfectly timed.

“Dad, it could explode,” Mandel’s daughter can be heard telling him from behind the camera.

Mandel turned around and began moving away.

Seconds later, the vehicle erupted in a dramatic burst of flames, sending a huge fireball into the air behind him.

Despite how close the explosion appeared on video, Mandel and his daughter were reportedly unharmed.

The exact cause of the vehicle fire and the sudden blast was not immediately clear. There was also no immediate indication that Mandel had any connection to the vehicle before coming across the scene.

The clip became even more attention-grabbing because of Mandel’s almost cinematic reaction.

As flames exploded behind him, the longtime television star could be seen walking away in blue overalls while the fireball filled the background.

Social media users quickly joked that the moment looked less like a real-life emergency and more like a scene from an action movie.

Several commenters compared the image to a Hollywood movie poster, while others simply expressed relief that Mandel apparently moved away at exactly the right moment.

The close call also serves as a reminder of how unpredictable vehicle fires can become. Burning vehicles can involve fuel, batteries, pressurized components and tires, making it dangerous for bystanders to remain nearby once a fire has grown out of control.

For Mandel, the surreal encounter was another unexpected moment in a television career stretching back decades.

He became one of the most recognizable game show hosts in America after taking over NBC’s “Deal or No Deal” when the U.S. version premiered in 2005.

The original network run was followed by a syndicated version and eventually a CNBC revival that aired through 2019.

Mandel later returned to the franchise as an executive producer on the spinoff “Deal or No Deal Island.”

He has also been closely associated with “America’s Got Talent,” joining the NBC competition series as a judge in 2010 and becoming one of the longest-serving personalities connected to the show.

Outside television, Mandel continues performing comedy and hosts the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast with his daughter Jackelyn Shultz.

His daughter’s warning may have been the most important line she delivered all day.

Had Mandel remained beside the burning vehicle for even a few more seconds, the frightening video could have ended very differently.
