Presley Gerber, the model and only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at age 27.
Gerber died Sunday, Sept. 20, while at a rehabilitation facility, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner cited by multiple outlets. His cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, and an autopsy remains pending.
His family confirmed the devastating news in a brief statement.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” a representative for Crawford, Rande Gerber and their daughter Kaia Gerber told TMZ.
Presley is survived by his parents and his younger sister Kaia, who turned 25 earlier this month.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner maintains a public case-search system for deaths investigated by the department. At this stage, no official cause of Presley’s death has been announced, meaning it would be premature to connect his death to his previously disclosed struggles with addiction or mental health.
Presley had followed his famous mother into the modeling world while still a teenager, signing with IMG Models and eventually appearing in fashion campaigns and runway shows.
But in later years, he became increasingly open about a much more difficult part of his life.
Presley spoke publicly about struggles with substance use, depression, panic attacks and prescription medication dependency.
