Country music fans were already fighting back tears when singer Mae Estes stepped onto the Grand Ole Opry stage to honor the late Dolly Parton.

Then something happened that left many of them stunned.

As Estes performed Parton’s beloved 1971 classic “Coat of Many Colors” on Wednesday, August 26, a butterfly suddenly fluttered across the famous stage — just one day after Parton died at age 80.

For longtime Dolly fans, the timing was almost impossible to ignore.

Butterflies were deeply connected to Parton throughout her life, and the country legend had even adopted the delicate creatures as one of her personal symbols.

The Grand Ole Opry quickly shared video of the remarkable moment on social media, writing, “You can’t make this up.”

“The spirit of Dolly Parton is strong in the Opry House,” the venue added, pointing out that the butterfly appeared while Estes was specifically performing “Coat of Many Colors.”

Fans immediately flooded the comments with emotional reactions, with some convinced the unexpected visitor was more than just a coincidence.

“Of course this would happen. Dolly finally got her butterfly wings!” one fan wrote.

The touching scene carries even more meaning because of Parton’s lifelong fascination with butterflies.
